  1. Sleet, sometimes turning to wet snow here in Merthyr.
  2. For the people wondering if any of this snow is settling at all, the answer is yes. Just get on the M4 (if it's still open) and come to Wales! It's getting quite deep now, almosy a blizzard. And the flakes are huge.
  3. been snowing extremely heavy now for over an hour, about 6cm of new snow and lots to come. Hope you like the pics!
  4. Wasn't able to get online yesterday, but Merthyr had 5in max (I don't care about the reports that said 4in was the deepest). Snowing pretty heavily this morning, settling on all surfaces and there were some huge flakes earlier. About 3cm of fresh snow so far.
  5. Never thought I'd end up asking because I pretty much know but I need it confirmed! Merthyr Tydfil, S Wales, 200m+ asl?
  6. Thanks Ju. And that was a TYPO people! I'm usually a Grammar Nazi.
  7. If anyone saw it today could you possibly tell me what it said? It's pretty important... and yes, it's pretty hypocritical for me to ask since I used to wrote the forecasts
  8. Had a few tremendous claps of thunder in the past 2 hours, one piece of fork lightning but the rest was just sheet, did cause the lights to fail for a minute or so though! More coming now, looks to be the main storm.
  9. Turned to snow here, after three hours of rain. Ground is soaking wet though, but this did happen on March 11th two years ago and we still ended up with near to 10in.
  10. Same down here Magpie, almost whiteout conditions. Every surface where the snow had melted is covered again. The torrential shower than just went through dropped a load of soft hail which has topped everything up to 4.5in. It's really messy out there, with all this soft hail falling into slushy puddles and re-settling on the roads... should be trecherous tonight!
  11. Magpie, where do you live? Around 4in here, more than I expected. Frequent, very heavy snow showers coming through... unfortunately there's some very bright sunshine in between, which is melting the snow fast. Schools are closed and everyone's in an "I need bread and milk quick" sort of mood.
  12. Had a few showers today. Most were quite short apart from a heavy one late this afternoon, which gave a covering that melted as soon as the sun got to it. Max temperature 3C.
  13. Overnight snow, started settling at midnight, 3cm at 9 this morning, still snowing heavily at that point. All gone now, apart from on hills.
  14. Dusting on top of the hills, constant light snow since the early hours, flakes too small and ground is too wet to settle. A few heavy showers of soft hail, sleet and snow yesterday.
  15. Wow, it's all happening here this morning - a small patch of blue sky in the last hour and several snow flurries which have been going since 8am.
  16. Uh-oh, somebody needs a memory boost! I'm great thanks, hope you are too. The snow has got really heavy here, about 4in on every surface with big flakes, it's been snowing like this for about an hour. The sky is orange, looks full of it. Every surface is covered, including the main roads, even though the gritters have been out. Ash
  17. Snow has now become heavy, 2cm covering. I'm not sure if it's starting to turn sleety though, there seems to be a heavy and wet sound to it now.
  18. After a freezing cold night (-8C) the frost has only melted from some surfaces. Bitterly cold right now, -1C. First flakes are falling and snow is slowly getting heavier.
  19. Frequent snow flurries since about 11am, smallish flakes though, not likely to amount to much.
  20. Around 7cm of snow here, very powdery. Woke up at 6 this morning to a blizzard, main road was covered.
  21. 7cm of powdery snow this morning, all surfaces covered. Melting in sun a little but not that much. Lovely jubbly.
  22. Frequent heavy snow showers coming through, most surfaces have a 1-2cm frozen covering, bitter wind.
  23. Heavy shower here, turning from rain to sleet to wet snow, then back to rain and then sleet, and so on.
