Amber warning out for the next 3 days from the MetO, expecting up to 80mm of rain on saturated ground. Maybe more floods to some the weekend? -
Was 20C earlier, with 17C Dewpoint. No thunder though, just light rain now. Sunday looks promising though.

Wow, that was great. 16mm of rain in the past 2 hours, and that was from 2 bursts of rain lasting a total of less than 20 mins. Even though we had very torrential rain, still no thunder -

Why Do Some Feel It's Wrong To Like Severe Weather?
Sainsbo replied to Jane Louise's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
There's nothing we can do to stop severe weather from happening. If we take proper safety precautions when needed, there's no reason not to enjoy it. It's not like we can stop it. -
A Couple Of Questions About Yesterdays Storms
Sainsbo replied to Sam Kennedy's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Hey Sam, I'm sorry that I can't answer your first question; I'm not great at reading them things, but as for your second question, even though the rainfall was heavy and torrential, it didn't seem to be much heavier than what we have had before, but due to the size of the storms, there were some places near newcastle upon Tyne and such that would have seen prolonged torrential rainfall for an hour or two, so I guess it's kind of a combination of the two. -

I totally agree with you, but the models were'nt exactly clear that this was going to pull off. They kept changing, and they didn't all seem to agree on where the worst hit would be, if it hit anywhere. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, though. -

Nice video, could be a tornado, but then again, these storms do give high winds without tornadoes. Nevertheless, great video! -

On the Met Office warnings assessment, the Impact is on the highest, and the likeliness is not far off.....could that be upgraded to a red warning? -

Weather station saying 18.6 Dewpoint here! Hopefully we will get some thunder tomorrow How is it looking for the SW? -
This month so far we have had 103.4mm of rain here, which is a LOT more than the 35.8mm Average for June. Something like 188% more rainfall than we should have this month. Weather, you crazy.
-
Had over 100mm of rain this month, that's the most we have had in a long time! Still a few days left to go for that to increase..

So, a possible 80+mm of rain falling in a fairly short amount of time in the capital warrants only a Yellow Warning from the Met Office? Just looked at the forecast assessment fromt the MetO, and all though the Impact is high, the Certainty is still low. I'm guessing that as it gets closer and they have a better idea of where the worst effected areas will be, they may upgrade to a Amber?
