looks like it it really warms up later next week on the GFS, but i bet that low in the atlantic will soon shunt the warm air out of the way, anyway its FI
http://cdn.nwstatic.co.uk/gfsimages/gfs.20120801/12/192/ukmaxtemp.png
till then more of the usual, sun and showers with average or slightly below average temps, boring
-
thank god i mostly dodged the showers today as my crops wouldn't be able to take any more water, even after this weeks hot spell it is still very wet a few inches into the ground.
-
I suspect none of this will happen for a while though but I still believe September will bring more reliable HP and dry weather.
No surprise there
-
i wish the polar vortex went to tenerife in winter
anyway, GFS shows it getting warm in the east ;later next week lets hope that low don't end up shunting the warm air into holland
-
im surprised no one has commented about the UKMO meteociel charts being faulty for days now, it keeps showing sundays 2 AM chart at T120 and showing intensely low heights in tenerife and north africa,

And April isn't summer, yet people think it needs to be warm and sunny around that time of the year simply because the daylight hours are getting longer.. a white Easter is more likely than a white Christmas, right?
Agree its all down to psychology, september is not that much cooler than june, but by sep the novelty of summer wares off as people are back at work and school so they think it should be getting cold and horrible just cos it gets darker a bit earlier, when in fact sep rarely feels cool to me as many days are about 18-19c the same as june in most years, same example for april and october, there is more chance of frost in april than october but as it gets dark earlier in oct people think october is colder
-
sunny again, 5th day in a row bbc weather got it wrong! the sun was always meant to be just for South,
summer hopefully on its way out now, I mean is 2nd half of August really summer? very rarely warm and sunny
Are you kidding me August is not autumn, in fact september rarely feels autumnal to me apart from the shorter daylight hours, we get a lot of days that are 18c to 20c, i think its your cold tinted glasses that wants summer to be over ASAP
-
GFS 18z looks less cool, in fact by midweek it gets warm again, if this were winter we would be having a hissy fit on the downgrade of the northerly
-
true I suppose, prefer washouts though to this, seems too much to ask for something inbetween, like storms though, and dosent look like I will get one
we do get something in between most of the time, cool, cloudy crap its tedious
-
best northerly in history too bad its just fantasy
-
only 25.7c here today as cloud spoiled the sun and i didn't get the chance to sunbathe, still, it felt pleasant out there,
-
partly cloudy here sun in and out, things look so much better when its clear blue sky, but 4 days in a row of wall to wall sunshine is too much to ask for i suppose
-
How to farmers, gardeners grow crops like tomatoes and cucumbers etc up there in cumbria it is hard enough growing them down here, in fact this year it is unlikely i will get any toms due to the cool, dull wet summer so far, last week my allotment was flooded out but today it was roasting over there if i lived up there in cumbria i wouldn't bother with crops as i have no patience
-
The temperature record was set in August, even with the shorter daylight hours. Peak temperatures will always be around 3-4pm depending on location, but I'm pretty sure the sun is at it's strongest in August.
Well i can't remember as i have barely seen any strong August sun for years, we are overdue a good August now
-
Now if we can see something like this in August, you're likely to be putting the all time British heat record under threat. You could easily double those uppers, and with the thermal lag effect in place, the sun is much stronger in August than any other summer month.
Is it? i thought june had the strongest sun as it is the month where the sun is at its highest due to the longest daylight hours but then again what do i know
PS i hope im far enough south to keep the sun and heat until friday i bet it clouds over though from that annoying front, though i doubt i will reach 30c
-
26c here today, that is perfect, but i can understand some people thinking that feels hot as we are not used to it, even though technically 26c is not really that hot, when was the last time we had widespread 32c 33c temps ? i don't think my area has reached 30+ for a good few years now, though maybe i just have a bad memory
-
lovely day, i wonder when people will start complaining its too hot? thats the British public for you
-
its the same in winter when the snow haters (mainly joe public) complain about a few days of lying snow out of 365 days in a year
-
GFS is not too bad it stays warm all week over most of England and Wales http://cdn.nwstatic....4/ukmaxtemp.png
Then the thundery rain hits the South on Saturday, still subject to change though probably, but this run is fine by me if it comes off, better than the northerly crap that the UKMO and ECM show, lets hope they plays catch up again
-
just have to laugh at this shocking output by the ECM for the end of next week
http://www.meteociel...CM1-168.GIF?21- we are back to square one, make the most of this summary spell over the next few days
-
just when the GFS keeps us in warm/hot air all week albeit with rain by friday and saturday, UKMO looks to give yet another rubbish cool northerly, if it went past T144, i hope the GFS is right with this as it was first to pick up this short wave/low pressure,
-
the 18z is horrendous, cools down by thursday, then friday is a washout with temps of 13c or 14c in central england, that will be about the 8th friday on the trot where it has been either wet, cloudy, windy or cool, we have to make the most of this warm snap, or hope that the 18z has gone off on one, dear me
-
its doesn't actually cool down in the south till next weekend though according to the 850s on the ECM, i would still take that, when do we ever get more than a few days of heat consecutively anyway
-
Ugh, ECM shows the high going to greenland, same old story, best make the most of a few days of warmth, unless heights drop quicker than the models currently show and the warmth gets shortened

no surprise of the lack of posts in here, ECM says it all, it may not be a washout but things look mediocre, the brief plume barely touches us next week
