  1. what a disgusting, miserable turgid mid summer's evening, it is my birthday tomorrow, me and my family went out for dinner earlier and we got soaking wet walking to a restaurant, it felt like the end of october, tomorrow looks dreadful too with more cloud and showers and a high of a pathetic 16c

no words can describe this vileness, i bet next weeks 3 day pleasant snap gets downgraded too

  2. Last winter wasn't boring - December and January had severe gales and February had a potent cold spell with snow - exciting in my opinion, and hardly 'mild'.. it was only really mild in bonny Scotland and NI.

true there were severe gales in december, even here, but im talking from IMBY really like most probably do, and it was mild for long periods of the winter, blossom was out in early january, we had a few days of snow and cold in feb and that was about it. the second half of feb was about 15c 16c pretty much the same as it is right now, what a joke

i just hope we don't see a repeat of last winter but i fear we may, though i am a pessimist

  3. god sakes, with every new run coming out the azores high stays further and further away, in winter most of these northerlies downgrade, as the azores high can't wait to ridge in, but not in summer, it looks horrible for my birthday next wednesday

Edit northerly doesn't last long but typically wednesday is the coolest day

  4. agree, also viewing the charts is annoying as there is high pressure galore to the west, south, north and east of the uk but we are stuck under pointless low pressure giving days and days of cloudy drizzly rain, no excitement in the weather at all, i cannot remember the the last time i heard thunder or saw lightning here

my crops are so behind this year due to this turgid cool cloudy crap, i don't think some of them will make it, but i suppose if we have our summer in september and october like usual then they will be ready by Halloween, better late than never

  5. yet again another pointless summers day with weak fronts bringing patchy drizzly crap, at least if we had some decent rain it would be fine but this weather is so boringly rubbish, next week is my birthday and it looks cool and cloudy with a horrible northerly of some kind, that brick wall like mid atlantic ridge is so stubborn

it is just so obvious that the greenland high will disappear in autumn and the azores high will return to set up shop for the winter again. so its a double blow for us

  6. the south east hasn't escaped, its raining at wimbledon but its only light patchy stuff, i never saw any posts on here saying we would have light patchy rain this week, its always "plenty more rain and showers, summer remains on hold" etc the radar had of band rain over my area today yet it was only spitting, i bet this is case for many other parts of the country too, of course a few places might of seen some heavier bursts but thats not the majority of the country

i now have to go and water my allotment

  7. no rain here again today, im no expert but i knew it wouldn't be as bad as people feared, i see many posts from people saying it will be unsettled with plenty of rain and showers the models never looked that wet to me, yet again people go over the top when they see synoptic s with a bit of low pressure over us

  8. That's 7 days away which makes it FI

Pointless even thinking that will happen until two days away at the very earliest.

3 days ago the models were predicting a sunny day for most tomorrow and temps up to the mid twenties.

In reality tomorrow will be cloudy and muggy only peaking at 21c at the very best.

exactly the 06z showed 20c in central areas for tomorrow and now the 12z shows 17c, so things can change at very very short notice

  9. The past winter was not really mild - my data shows it was actually very average - the lack of snow in December and January was really shocking however.

it was here, many days we had temps in double digits, most of feb was very mild apart from the first week, in fact feb was not that much cooler than it has been this month, second half of december was also stupidly mild

Why is lack of snow in the winter shocking?.. We barely get snow in any winter.... of-course theres always an exception.. If we do get snow its gone the next day. Due to rain that comes from the Atlantic... our weather basically comes from the Atlantic and thats why our summers are garbage on many occasions..And yes this theme could last for a very long time..

i agree to some extent that we shouldn't be surprised by mildness in winter, but it should still snow at some point in winter

  10. Groundhog day continues with yet another day of utterly depressing cool, grey, wet filth:

Incredulous given how godawful the first half of June was that the second half has been even worse. Just one dry day in ten now and the past 4 days have been repugnant. Had almost a months worth of rain since Thursday and endless grey skies.

Unreal how day after day you wake up to dismal grey overcast, check the satellite and see that it's just everywhere with no hope of clearancewallbash.gif

It's a toss-up between this month and June 2007 as to which has been the most unrelentingly awful month I've experienced. No others come closebad.gif

its been pretty bad down here this spring/summer, but i feel sorry for you folk up in scotland you had a mild winter, and it was more milder at times last december than it has been this month, even here we have had a few days of 10-13c this month which was colder than xmas day last year
