looks like yet again all our good synoptics will probably be used up in spring, and summer will be another windy cool dull fest
feels like this pattern keeps repeating itself every year
-
How utterly predictable that this weekends rain is now vanishing off the charts for here to
Telford seems to be destined to slate grey skies and nothing else these days, no rain, no snow, no sun, nothing
4 out of 5 days this week i had slate grey skies as well, yesterday was quite nice though, but wall to wall sunshine is as rare as snow.
yep true that the rain typically downgrades too
-
better than rain all day mind you, nothing worse than that, 12Z still going for a nasty easterly around mid next week, could last a few days, proper warm weather a long way off yet
i can't remember the last time it rained all day here,
-
Can you believe that some people still think it is winter and that spring starts on the 21st march, it hasn't felt like winter for about a month now lol
-
what will probably happen yet again next week is that it will start of dry and sunny over england with high pressure, then as fronts try to get in from the northwest later in the week, all we will get is an annoying legacy of cloud that will block out the sun and spoil the weather. happens nearly most of the time
so predictable why do i bother with this hobby
-
Yet again like last year it looks like all the nice weather is being used up way to soon
exactly we always get good summer synoptics at the wrong time of year, i bet we have a warm settled spring and come summer it will be another cool dull fest again
-
where was this so called deluge then, it rained for about 2 hrs then it was just the usual crap drizzle, no point putting my crops out this year as they will die from the drought probably
-
im not expecting any snow tbh, so there won't be a feeling of a "let down" by me
-
what a load of old tosh i never buy papers or listen to this overhyped nonsense, i get my info about the weather from the experts on here
-
-16c uppers in mid March for Moscow I assume is not that uncommom, that is what that chart is showing
.
The chart i posted was an 18z ensemble member from last night, that chart has changed now since the 06z came out, but what it showed was -16 uppers in london from a stonking easterly and - 14 uppers in cornwall, this is not common for the UK on the 14th of march as that is the date it showed,
i know its FI and will not happen as it a freak event but it was the best chart i have seen for march, but if it did happen it would go down as one of the best events in history for march that is
-
shame hardly no one is up to see this chart, probably the best chart i have seen for march - 16 uppers in mid march
just a fantasy though and won't happen
-
Its a fair enough point. I do like snow but I think this overall pathetic winter as made me just want to see the total back end of it. Dont want warm/cold weather to confuse the plants though!
though tbh i cannot remember the last time i had heavy settling snow at 1pm in the afternoon in march, of course at night it is easily possible for it to snow in march or even april.
-
Of course Winter just doesnt stop because its now March. But when we have had warm spring sunshine like weve had in the last week bar a day or two, You dont really want to plunge back into Winter again imo.
i do lol, one week of snow and cold, and one week of warmth i would like i get bored quickly
-
I have to admit now - after feeling todays warmth and the whole uplifting feeling, unless we can be guaranteed loads of memorable snow (Which we cant be, especially at this point of the season) that im now looking forward to lower 20's in spring with some great convection and storms. Then a hot but wet summer (if possible) would be brillant.
yep me too but storms and heat are nearly as rare as snow, well here anyway, so i won't be getting to excited about spring and summer, and a two day heatwave lol
-
I cant understand how some want to see cold and snow again now next week? Thankfully there seems to be No Midlanders thus far who want to see a return to Winter! Im hoping it doesnt happen. Winter had had its turn now, the sun is out so get outside and enjoy it I say! I cant understand why people dont like the sun either. Couldnt bear a life of being stuck indoors, curtains shut etc.
its only the 1st of march i give up looking for snow probably around mid to late march, there is plenty time for sun and warmth all the way to the end of october possibly, just because the calendar has flicked to march today don't mean cold and snow can bog off just yet
-
Thankfull to see the back of this winter in all honesty. It seems that finding perfect routes to cold and then perfect conditions for snowfall in the midlands get's harder and longer drawn every single winter. This last year of weather has put me off everything weather in all honesty. But this mornings conditions have brought a good summery feel to things and it's uplifted the spirits a little.
Good riddance winter 2011/2012 you were boring, teasing and thoroughly annoying.
yep i feel like jacking in this hobby too, but i can't as i have been interested in the weather (god knows why) since i was about 10
we seem to always get the same old boring synoptics, and i have had one snow event this winter in 90 days
-
well hopefully march 2012 can rival these 80s events but i won't hold my breath
-
typical that all these good snow event came in the 80's or 90's when i was too young to remember or not born yet
tbh honest i don't remember any decent, notable snow events here in march this century, apart from easter 2008 but that was in april i think
-
some of the ensembles aren't that bad
FI but who says we can't get a decent easterly in march, albeit it don't last too long
-
another boring cloudy day same old same old
-
Gavin is link crazy, we know how to view the charts gavin, no need to clutter the forum with it
also gavin high pressure don't always mean warm or mild, next week it could be frosty in some areas
-
Indeed.. the past 10 days here have been categorised by day after day of stratocumulus with the odd break now and again giving 5 seconds of sunshine.. this is the most dull weather imaginable, there's really no interest in this!
That is what we get most days of the year here, it is either mild grey or cold grey, hardly ever rains and we don't get much sun
it has been yet another dry winter here, summer seems to be our wettest season in recent years, though not that wet really compared to scotland or the NW
-
yep typical downgrade, we always get the same old boring synoptics like this

and not like this
-
i really hope GMT is not scrapped otherwise February will feel even more like a spring month sometimes, it is too early for this stupid warmth
