  1. Good snow here, covering the tarmac quickly...the sky looked more convective when I took the dog out at 5pm. You could see the lower darker clouds and brighter upper clouds as per 2018, 1987 etc.
  2. Snowing moderately here on the Essex coast, a lot of convection to the north east which BBC forecast earlier didn't show but it is a case now of radar over graphics.
  3. Just seen latest Beeb forecast with Carol Kirkwood...little about mentioning a streamer in the Thames region overnight but the graphics sort of showed one (not to take these too literally) and concentrated more on the convection further north, thing that got me and was laughable she said strongest gusts would be near 30-40mph towards East Anglia and Kent coasts!! hardly a breath of wind here...
  4. Still very cold outside, temp -1.2c with an additional cm added so near 5cms here. Is that right more snow is expected late tonight and tomorrow?
  5. Hammering it down here on the Riviera...and settling quickly, hopefully we'll get a few more cm's overnight.
  6. Looks a bit similar to this morning? maybe NW Kent/Sussex getting in to the act a bit more, so no Thames Streamer and a ENE wind?
  7. GFS only model running with that idea...GEM/UKMO not interested, too much energy running northwards.
  8. Certainly colder out there now...-0.4c and a nippy old wind, about 4.5cm here.
  9. How's the 40cm's treating you? closer to the 4cm's that you joked at no doubt?...a tad underwhelming in my opinion.
  10. Here to the south east of you, temps have just fallen to freezing point and dp's just below that...so just starting to get a slight covering on pavements here. When the wind turns more ENE this afternoon then you'll see colder dp's and settling on everything (if it's still snowing).
  11. Steady moderate to heavy snow here on the Riviera...2.5cms and temp at 0.0c and signs of settling on pavement.
  12. Heavier snow here on the Riviera...about 1.5cms and temp 0.1c and falling.
  13. hhhmmmmm!...only started to turn to snow here at 8am which was far later than forecast and have to say a bit disappointing. Still feels all a bit wet under foot, not settling on driveway or pavements. Burnham, Essex Temp: 0.2c Dew Point: -0.4c Snow depth: 1cm approx
  14. I think the main low (2 centres) one near NE France and one nearer the German /Dutch border I think are further south than that precip band to the north (at a guess) if anybody wants to correct me? That 'kink' in the precip band I think is a milder sector which phases out.
  15. You missed out the major part of that quote which is beneath and that was - 'BOOM!'
  16. Well yes that as well...:) I didn't look at the date, thought it might be the week after next...14th onwards
  17. If it's an outrageous run it will come from GFS and 9 times out of 10 (or more) won't verify.
  18. Sadly it's the GFS 18z...ECM and to a degree GEM not showing that at that range...
  19. I try to keep 'grounded' particularly with models but when you get such synoptics now we're at T6 and less as we're about to experience the East Coast/Kent very rarely gets away without receiving at least a few inches...more questionable further west. Roger Smith is a wily veteran on this site so if it's a BOOM!...Some surprises! Yes a Ramp.
  20. Exactly!... a lot of doom mongers (mainly located towards the west of the region). Paul Sherman commented that this regularly happens in here before a possible snowfall.
  21. Roger J Smith in the mod thread reckons it's looking good for us in the south east and thinks the precip charts are being conservative on totals and wouldn't be at all surprised to see spots easily get 20-40cms...he added a BOOM! by the way.
  22. Really weird considering how close we are as the crow flies but 2018 we had about 13/14cms where as in 2010 you had far far more from the Thames streamer...the variations always amaze me!
