  1. Yep, Sunday now looks to be a write off. Typical, watch all the jubilee party's get ruined. Such a shame And to add insult to injury temps will only reach 11c on Sunday across our region. Pathetic for the beginning of June by anyones standards. It's the usual doom and gloom over on the MOD thread. The usual cat fights between the unsettled lovers and the warm dry lovers. I tend not to take to much notice over on the MoD thread this time of year as there is a lot of bias towards cold wet weather, then the heat of the past 10 days came along. I imagine a few of them had to eat a bit of humble. But once again the same members dismissing any chance of warmth the rest of June. Quite ridiculous really.
  2. Oh Lurrrvley. Yes Im very lucky this year to have two holidays. A Greek island in July and in November I get married in the Maldives. So at least I will have therapy if we do have a poor summer...
  3. I really hope not, I have my partners family over visiting from Portugal tomorrow. Every time they come it rains and I mean it rains. 5 years in a row they have visited and had to endure washout conditions. And what's even worse if we arranged it a week earlier we would have been just as hot as there home country :-( Always the way. If it does rain heavily, Once again it looks like me and my girlfriend are going to have to convince them "it's not always like this you know" lol
  4. Agree, Saturday should feel quite nice. Sunday chance of showers late in day but by no means a wash out.
  5. We have Friday/ Saturday and Sunday dry weather to look forward too first, Monday does look wet but at the moment Tuesday drys up again so all in all not a bad holiday weekend at all. We've had a lot worse. 1 really wet day out of 5 is pretty good going
  6. So muggy out there this evening, it seems that the torrential storm earlier did nothing to freshen the air. I notice Beeb TV forecast are going for temps of up to 20c for tomorrow now, yesterday they were showing at 18c.
  7. Think once the storms past to my NE into Essex I think that's pretty much it for the London and SE area. Not much convection happening to the SW and its already 6pm Still my garden had a lovely water, might even get some evening sunshine
  8. The heaviest rain hands down I think I've ever seen in this country in Loughton Essex. Can't even describe how mad that just was. Even everyone in the street looking out of their window. As quick as it came, it has now moved off to the NE and blue sky is following.
  9. Jeez... Loughton Essex has turned into a pool. Very heavy rain - hailstones as well. No thunder or lightning though. These kind of downpours I experienced in Florida. Although I'm not a fan of wet weather this is certainly making me a fan of summer downpours...
  10. Big drops of rain here in loughton - it has that summer storm smell to it if you know what I mean :-)
  11. No rain yet in loughton. Heard two rumbles of thunder though towards my south around half hour ago Big black clouds heading in my direction from the SW now.. Hopefully get some rain for my garden as just cut the grass.
  12. Clouds really building now. Be very surprised if my garden doesn't get wet today. Feels warm and muggy out there today, already 4c warmer than yesterday
  13. Still wall to wall sunshine here in loughton. Was expecting clouds by now
  14. I did say that the word 'useless' I shouldn't have used. But considering I was forecast flooding and storms and didn't even have one drop of water and was put in the warning area I would say yes that was bad actually when all things considered.
  15. Ok maybe the word 'useless' is a bit too strong. All I know is I've been forecast via weather reports and warnings for storms in my area since Monday and not had one drop of rain and when you see a yellow warning of thunderstorms with the chance of flooding it can be very misleading especially for joe public. My point is - not to issue such a warning of a specific area and make it as a chance for whole region in these kind of situations, as like you have just said these set ups are so difficult to forecast. The Meto warnings are excellent in winter and when we have more general widespread weather but in these set ups as proved can be difficult to pin point.
  16. Why anyone would take those warnings as gospel is beyond me anyway. I mentioned in my previous post that those warnings are useless in these set ups. A lovely evening here once again if rather chilly the past hour. Another warm day for London tomorrow with temps reaching 25c but with a much greater chance of showers although these will be light in nature and not torrential which is good. Rest of week looks becoming much cooler and cloudier but Saturday looks like brightening up again with temps mid to high teens.
  17. Not so convinced about Meto warnings in these situations. Take yesterday for instance, some that we're in the warning got nothing including myself were as others got very wet and were not in the warning area. Tbh there should be no specific area warnings within the region and just a warning of showers anywhere across the region. In these circumstancies obviously. Just watched the lunchtime bbc London forecast. A lot of blue with lightning graphics south of the river and he also mentioned showers setting up from east to out west rather than south to north like yesterday.
  18. Had a lovely day yesterday - sunshine all day with temps around 27c, the showers stayed away so that was good. Chance of some thundery showers pretty much breaking out anywhere across the region today, again here's hoping my location stays dry. Tomorrow sees a real risk of heavy showers. Much more widespread Temps at 24c today and 25c tomorrow, heading into weekend things will be settled with temps around 19c - not bad at all. Could be a lot worse
  19. Arh that's good.. At least you get the sun again!
  20. Ah man I'm so happy that never happened here. Blue skies and very warm now. Going to light the charcoal in a bit. Kids playing in paddling pool, hard to believe that just up the road you have a monsoon.. Rather you than me.
  21. Really happy it's all happening out east. Currently under blue sky's again now. Enjoy the downpours everyone that has them, west Essex westwards lets enjoy the evening sunshine :-)
  22. Went dark in loughton Essex half hr ago, sun now come out again... Blue sky coming back.. Whoop... Hope everything stays out east
  23. Very warm out there. Clouds really bubbling up now, air feels stormy. Hoping to stay dry but I feel there could be something brewing :-( AM... Seems you have a great fan base on here from fellow storm fans, so much so that you get the nice posts even though you disputed me posting about sunny weather... Oh well. Maybe if I was a storm lover.........
  24. I did say 50/50 to stay dry or get wet. I'm well aware there is a chance of storms there's also a chance that I could stay sunny all day. My preference is sunny and thats how it shall stay. Archiesmummy - you were the one that raised an issue with my post and instigated the fact that you don't like or get members that come on here when it's sunny skies. You quoted in a previous post about not coming onto a forum posting about weather that's not forecast ie... Snow. At the end of the day - sunny skies or storms are forecast for today. So I will continue to post my thoughts on this lovely weather we are having and you can do the same for potential storms - there is nothing wrong with that. Anyway, just heard on radio again that big hailstones will form if showers are heavy later and this may cause problems... Yikes
  25. Just back from walking the dog. Wall to wall sunshine - love this weather. May it continue all day and hoping that showers stay away Back to normality with our weather come Wednesday :-( At least no heavy rain forecast!
