After a stunner of a day yesterday today has been pants with the improvement in the weather painfully slow with rain at times A day where you see the clear weather in the channel on the satellite images being so close to the coast but it somehow just doesn’t make it. Even now the sun is very hazy. But it’s dry so I’ll take that.

An absolute drenching here on the coast last night but as expected no t-storm. Fair play to the Met Office, the warning mentioned the main area at risk of thunderstorms was the northern and eastern parts of the warning area and that appears to have turned out to be the case. Westbury took a direct hit by the sounds of it knocking out the electricity supply on the railway line in the Westbury area.

Out walking and my it’s very muggy and oppressive out here. Yuk. Heading for the coast this evening. Like Mapantz, i’m not expecting to see storms there tonight, just a lot of heavy rain. Much more chance here in Wilts. So for my fellow Wiltshire and east Somerset resident posters (and anywhere else in our region) here enjoy if one or more show up.

Absolute shocker of a day here. It’s hardly stopped raining since the start of the day. 2 batches of thundery activity in the past 24 hours. I do wonder with the amount of rain that’s fallen if a yellow warning could have been issued. Causing issues on the railways and doubtless on the roads too. *Stormforce~beka* Given the right conditions yes. Best of course is sunshine, bit of breeze and low humidity. The latter plays a big part on a cold but sunny day. It can be surprising just how quickly washing will dry given dry air even if the temp is only a few degrees. Generally it takes a lot longer in the winter as you’d expect and you need to finish drying in the house in the evening.

I won't be joining the Scandi high chase in the MOD thread. Isn't it always the way, when there's wind and rain on the way, the yellow warning is able to be issued a good few days out. That's the plan, enjoy the last few days of dry walking weather before the wellies come out of the cupboard again! Disappointed that this dry spell is coming to an end. Would have been great to have got high pressure to stick around for a good few weeks to get us to or near to spring. Oh well.
