  1. Awful isn’t it. I don’t think I can cope with going in there this evening when the 12z ECM run manifests. I feel for the NW mods I really do. They must feel like they are running a crèche at times in there.
  2. Well to me the both the medium and long term forecasts read better than they did yesterday.
  3. Now it’s getting light, the full extent of the flooding caused by yesterday’s rainfall will begin to become clearer. Latest report from the BBC Points West region: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-67889651
  4. Awful conditions out there. Started here around 1pm and hasn’t stopped. Very persistent. Must be very close to an Amber with the amount of rain we’ve had and the amount that’s currently still falling now. I think there will be some items on the news tomorrow featuring our region following today’s rain.
  5. Happy New Year Everyone Decs and tree put away for another year so living room looks a bit bland and dull without all the lights but Christmas is over and its back to work tomorrow. Dry morning, so once decs were down and back in the loft got out for a walk before yet more rain set in for the rest of the day. Looks like there’s hope on the horizon weatherwise with drier and hopefully sunny weather not far away.
  6. Went to pick the wife up from Bristol Airport earlier and the roads were awful. I’d have been better off going in a boat!
  7. After a nice dry day it’s back to wind and rain. Absolutely awful out there with it unlikely to improve here until just before dark. Though it’s not far off being dark now!
  8. Was about to ask how things were going with MIL. Did she get you anything nice for Christmas? Meanwhile…had some lovely sunshine earlier part of the afternoon which I timed my afternoon walk for. Could just about feel a tiny bit of warmth coming from the sun. Clouded over now ahead of the impending rain.
  9. Merry Christmas Everyone. Not been a bad start here weatherwise. Managed to get out for my usual walk before the weather collapses into soggy mess this afternoon. Something I wasn’t expecting to do looking at the forecast yesterday for today. Double bonus, we’ve had some sunshine this past half an hour. Sadly fading now as the grey clouds come back together confirming what the radar is showing, that this afternoon’s rain is just a few miles away now.
  10. Well at least we can say it’s been mainly dry these past few days if not very sunny. Something we can’t say about the weather from tomorrow onwards. Looking pretty miserable at times and not as mild. And as for seeing much if anything of the sun.
  11. This surely is going to go down as one of the dullest Decembers on record. The sun appearing, even for a few minutes, feels like a major weather event at the moment such is the fact that we have seen so little of it these past few weeks, months even. I can't remember when the last full day of sunshine was, sometime back in early November?
  12. Drizzling off and on here on the coast too. Looked quite promising an hour ago with the sun breaking through. Was a very pleasant afternoon here yesterday. Wasn’t expecting the same today but at least for it to remain dry to go for a long walk. I was planning a washing day back in Wilts tomorrow, my confidence now knocked that this could be turning into a drizzly type of high pressure and not a dry one The problem with this type of weather is the radar is absolutely useless as it doesn't show the fine but very wet type of drizzle!
  13. Same here, nothing on the radar but been mainly dull and drizzly all morning. Still patiently waiting to see a bit sunshine before it sets again around 4pm.
  14. Not quite as sunny as it looked like it would be with pesky cloud from time to time. Still, thanks to the breeze, three lots of washing done, on the line and back in again along with a very muddy afternoon walk. Cup of tea and a slice of Christmas cake now.
  15. After the rain being somewhat patchy, the main event, particularly in the areas covered by the yellow warnings, is getting going now. Some very heavy rain in parts of Cornwall looking at the latest radar image.
  16. Been an awful day in Bath with the drive home pretty unpleasant. Dark and constant rain. It doesn't get much worse than this. Watching the radar throughout the day, parts of Somerset and West Dorset have been deluged pretty much the whole day. It's no wonder there's a long list of road closures and the railway line between Westbury and Taunton and Bristol and Taunton both closed due to flooding.
  17. Thoughts turn to early December last year where here in Wilts we had a morning of light to steady snowfall which remained on the ground for a week and we were nowhere near the yellow warning issued the day before. But yes, I'm not expecting anything here, but never say never!
  18. Polar opposite to yesterday which was delightful. Sun going to be hard to come by next week as well by the looks of it. And as for Thursday…there might be a few disappointed people in the MAD thread when those eye candy precipitation charts don’t actually reflect what falls from the sky come Thursday.️
