  1. First half of the night cold rain. What a waste, but we weren’t expecting anything wintery from last nights weather system. I think those in the south east under the yellow warning for snow will be disappointed, though it was the lowest level of warning. And a total bust for tonight/tomorrow. At least it’s going to be dry and after the past month’s rain fest that is more than welcome.
  2. Interesting indeed. Worth keeping an on. Wasn’t it ECM mid last week that was showing the possibility on something for our region Monday night into Tuesday?
  3. Totally agree. You never need to wish for rain in this country, it will always come eventually. Climate change or not, there will always be something right next to us that will provide it; it’s called the Atlantic. At least it looks like we’ve got a few dry days coming up next week. Whether we’ll see snow, I’m not sure. Wasn’t expecting what we saw early December In Westbury and Warminster. Can’t see that scenario happening next week because the ground was frozen solid so the snow pitched straight away.
  4. I think the weather may get a mention on our local news programs tonight: Heavy rain causes roads to flood and GWR rail disruption https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-64246734
  5. The amount of rain falling on top of what we’ve seen in our region this past month. Today’s Met office warning adjusted to reflect the amount of rain over the next day or so.
  6. It does indeed look potentially interesting next week. A lot of water to pass under and possibly over the bridge between now and then. Tomorrow and Thursday look somewhat concerning, especially after all the rain we’ve had these past few weeks. That cold snap early mid December is such a distant memory now.
  7. I was on the other side of it. No rain, handful of flashes and bangs with the moon out as well.
  8. A rinse and repeat scenario from last night down here. Activity to the Southwest of Portland. Fizzled out by the time it got to the coast. Will that happen again tonight?
  9. Looked like something was getting going in a diagonal line south west of Portland but alas it’s run out of energy.
  10. After a brief lull in proceedings, it appears to be coming back to life again.
  11. Looking angry over Weymouth Bay with deep booms being heard from the system as it crosses Lyme Bay. IMG_3140.MOV
  12. A very tasty convective forecast this morning for our region from Dan: Convective Weather CONVECTIVEWEATHER.CO.UK Forecasting thunderstorms and severe convective weather across the British Isles and Ireland for up to the next 5 days. Looking good for Dorset Mapantz. What could possibly go wrong
  13. Probably the best direction to point it. Fizzling out here after a few claps with the heaviest of the rain heading in land. Tomorrow afternoon and evening looking good for here.
  14. That’s where it appears to be coming from. Weymouth has just disappeared by the torrential rain crossing Weymouth Bay.
  15. I don’t think you could get a much better set up than the one forecast for tonight. Going to be a quiet night for me further west sadly. All the best to those chasing tonight. Enjoy!
  16. Not sure exactly where it is as we’ve just had one overhead shotgun bang. It’s active but where I don’t know. Rain has now stopped. Very muggy.
  17. Kicked off here in West Wilts with a fairy active cell. Moderate to heavy rain, perfect to soften up the ground in time for the possibility of more torrential downpours tonight/tomorrow.
  18. Very sad. Such a beautiful part of Dorset. Thoughts with all those dealing with the fire in such challenging conditions.
