  1. Yes, its all kicked off down here. Though reading in the storms thread, not something you wanted to see just yet.
  2. Just looked out the window to see the car is absolutely covered in Saharan sand following this morning’s rain. Could do with a good downpour to clear it. Might get one later if these storms the Met are forecasting in the following warning make it to Wiltshire: UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  3. Opens windows, closes windows. And repeat. House still very warm from yesterday but feels cold when you open them. Steady rain and 12c cooler than it was this time yesterday. Feel very much for those who have outdoor events, weddings etc in the area after yesterday’s heat fest only for it to be a wet Saturday afternoon affair today.
  4. Indeed, wasn’t expecting rain until this evening. Forecast models struggling with this set up. What a complete contrast to yesterday.
  5. Well that turned out better than expected. After being left out of the Met office’s warning yesterday, it looked like Dorset was the sweet spot for the storms with very little happening beyond here apart from heavy rain as it headed north. It certainly felt ripe yesterday afternoon and evening with what was left of the storms over France making it across the channel and springing to life again just before hitting the coast. That was my only hope of seeing storms last night on the coast as the forecast was that they would break out inland, once again reminding us just how difficult it is to forecast storms. Not expecting anything here today, very gloomy. The Met have also quite substantially reduced the warning area for later today.
  6. That clump that’s been sitting in the channel is coming to life and heading straight for Weymouth Bay. Things could start to get interesting for Mapantz and myself very shortly. Deep booms already getting louder as it gets closer.
  7. Think they are the best hope for us on the Dorset coast to see any action if the Met office weather warning is to be believed.
  8. Certainly is. Sun’s come out and the humidity has rocketed down here. Dorset coast not in the Met’s latest warning for storms. But seeing as we were in last nights warning and saw absolutely nothing bar some light to moderate rain, nothing can be ruled out.
  9. Saw the shower over Weymouth Bay with the Weymouth webcam duly confirming those enjoying the day on the beach got wet Was expecting scattered showers inland today, but nothing to the extent the radar is currently showing.
  10. Sun trying to come out. Not cold though which is something. Later tonight looking interesting for this part of the region.
  11. Was just about to go for a cheeky walk in between the showers and it suddenly kicked off. May be cold down at ground level but there must be some energy above this evening.
  12. I agree. After some optimism from looking at the UKV runs earlier in the day, I’m not expecting anything of interest in our neck of the woods this evening. We were right on the edge anyway. And yes it’s pretty chilly here now and a wet evening to boot. Wishing everyone further east of Dorset all the best for later on this evening.
  13. Gosh Mapantz, we’re right on the edge of the latest UKMO warning, not the best place to be. But then how many times have we been right in the middle of a warning area and seen nothing! UKV still looks good for east Dorset but it looks like it will be a short lived affair during daylight hours.
  14. Was the best night of storms we’ve had for quite a few years. Came in two batches. First one, plenty of lightening action, the second one, less flashes but some decent fork lightening with accompanying bangs. Agree regards the rain. Despite a very colourful looking radar, not a huge of rain during the storms but more so later in the night. Glad Mapantz was well served down in Dorset too.
  15. Yes I’m hearing that it’s absolutely chucking it down in Westbury right now and has been for quite some time. Looking at the radar, there was a cell between Westbury and Warminster that then merged with one to the east of Westbury. I have a feeling there maybe some localised flooding issues in the area. It’s just sitting there and not moving anywhere.
  16. I mentioned this in the Storms and Convection thread and was basically told to disregard it which is fair enough. Wasn’t thinking it would bring any t-storm activity with it but was wondering if the rain did reach the south coast whether it could pep up. Very pleasant but muggy afternoon here.
  17. Watching what’s in the channel now which appears to be heading north towards us.
  18. Not a bad show along the Dorset coast early part of last night finally breaking my t-storm drought. Not frequent enough to get out of bed to watch the action from the window mind, but a few pretty close flashes and bangs. Good to see my fellow Wiltshire weather watchers got in on the action later in the night. The heaviest rain stayed out in the channel. When I woke up at 1.30 to check the radar, seeing what was in the channel, I was bracing for an absolute deluge but it fizzled out somewhat upon hitting the coast. Now just the usual post storm clag left behind. Just waiting for that to clear and it should be quite a nice day along the coast. Not expecting storms here today with the convergence zone likely to be inland. Maybe tomorrow will give us another chance.
  19. The main core is just sitting there in the channel. What’s it waiting for? Bizarre.
