  1. Happens every time there is some sort of severe weather event and don't even get me started on Met O warnings I swear some people view them as some sort of honour badge. Worse than a playground. Fair to say it's looking a bit rough down here tomorrow on top of what we have already had and what seems to be coming up for the weekend.
  2. Wouldn't bank on that it's coming from a different direction.
  3. This picture has gone viral. This was supposedly taken in Limerick about 10 days ago,
  4. Met O 5 day data had always picked it up fair play to them. They have been pretty much spot on this winter. Oh and anyone saying we won't get anything tomorrow they are still predicting 60 mph gusts along the south coast late afternoon.
  5. I am so over this winter now. Piddling with rain and just had an almighty gust of wind. I know I should probably post this in moaning thread but there is a north south divide creeping in on there and at least here people understand where I am coming from.
  6. Sorry to my eyes this is getting upgraded with every set of data coming in. I say upgraded tongue in cheek 'cos that one in December was more than enough for me and I certainly don't want to see anything like that again in a hurry.
  7. Just stand at the top of Beachy Head with a tarpaulin and save yourself the journey to Gatwick! Have a great time.
  8. Some very worrying charts showng up this afternoon. Was a bit concerned this morning when Met O issued warning for rain on Thursday. JP your input this week is going to be invaluable as if it isn't anyway but more so this week. Seriously though don't stress yourself if you can't do your usual updates we all I'm sure appreciate you have a life outside of this forum. Countryfile weather today will be an interesting one to watch.
  9. Was pretty lively wasn't it. We actually got off lightly! There were more storms drifting along in the channel. I have never seen torrential hail like we had.
  10. Seems quiet now. Trouble is I'm wide awake now typical. Dogs were totally freaked out by that little lot whilst the cats are strutting around saying "thunder, pfft do your worst". Looking back through the radar sequence you can see the squall line forming just to the west of here, crazy night for the weather, 3 storms in one night.
  11. Tell me about it. Currently got two German Shepherds trying to sit on my lap! So until this one goes away no chance of sleep.
  12. Just been woken by an almighty storm overhead thunder and lightning. Did try to go back to sleep but its driving the dogs loopy brief power cut for a second or so. Pretty strong eh.
  13. Big flashes, deep rumbles and road white covered by hail. Knocked power out for 10 minutes or so.
  14. Loads of thunder and lightning and hail. Road is white. Knocked out power for 5 - 10 minutes just about how long it took to find the torches!
  15. Err John have you seen the ECM?! Your fax charts will be watched with anticipation tonight and not for the white stuff.
  16. Thank you guys for the kind words yesterday. Was a tad breezy in the night and still is actually. Think the max gust here was 47 mph so far matching Met O predictions.
  17. http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html This is a good one because it shows yesterday and up to the present time. http://www.sat24.com/?ir=true&ra=true&li=false For the Met Office generated charts http://www.weathercharts.org/ukmomslp.htm I'm sure other people may be able to come up with some more. Never be afraid to ask questions there are some very knowledgeable posters on here and these are sites that I have picked up from them.
  18. I think I agree with you. I used to take a peek at the GFS precipitation charts looking for those white hatches now I just look at them to see how much rain it is predicting
  19. Did you find out where there were courses on understanding them?!
