  1. Thanks for that. Yea I dread to think what it is like today it was pretty bad last Saturday. Looks like we may have to bail out Yamkin and John P. South Croydon flooding has been declared a major incident by Croydon Council http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-26081139
  2. Watching local BBC News Birling Gap has suffered a cliff fall today about 6 foot of cliff has collapsed, beach has been closed off there for about a month and parts of the visitor centre have been closed. I know Martin BB54 was asking about Birling Gap a while back. Will try to get over there at the weekend to take some photos. Local river is on a flood warning for tonight and am now up to 21mm of rain for today and really not liking the look of the radar.
  3. I can assure you it's clipping the south of East Sussex. Road is on a slope and bottom of the road is flooding and the guy who lives at the bottom works for the Environment Agency oh the irony
  4. Where can I apply for my understanding Met O weather warnings map course?!
  5. No trains between Bexhill and Eastbourne due to flooding on the line http://www.southernrailway.com/
  6. Seems ok at the moment a few minor roads are a bit dicey but main roads are ok
  7. Indeed at the moment every station has a station supervisor the current proposals are to have mobile station supervisors covering multiple stations. Trouble with that is if there is a problem at a station and the supervisor can't get to the station ......There is also talk of using the space currently occupied by the ticket offices to be used as drop off points for Amazon or even Sainsbury's I dread to think of the security risk posed by that little one but they are just thinking of the revenue they could earn from it.
  8. As the other half works for TFL and getting to hear of what the actual proposals are for job cuts and job downgrades and having actually suffered a substantial paycut maybe some would be wise to check what the details of the proposals are before casting judgement on strike action. To keep on the topic of weather gusts getting up now and knocked out freeview signal from the aerial.
  9. Met Office updated warning to amber for Central Southern and South East http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1391558400&regionName=se
  10. Like you say Robin looking at the latest info it looks like our little corner may escape the worst of it but not looking the same for West Sussex nice little shower train heading for Balcombe area all day by the looks of it.
  11. Morning all nightmare for the commuters out there this morning A23 closed due to flooding and main rail line up to London closed at Balcombe due to flooding looks like I could be driving up to Haywards Heath to pick the other half up this afternoon if it doesn't subside by then. Heh Happy Poet's Day!
  12. Morning all, have only just woken up had a bad night with this blinking cough and aches and pains so didn't get to sleep till about 3. I vaguely heard some heavy rain earlier this morning no idea what time it was as I was more keen on getting back to sleep. I really really don't want anymore rain now this is getting beyond a joke, every time the dogs go out in the garden they seem to bring more and more mud into the house and its getting everywhere.
  13. Just like to add from those heart warming stories earlier. I was useless at school left with no 'O' levels (urg that ages me eh). Got a job in a travel agency as I loved geography did that for a fair few years and drifted into teaching in a local college. Did my teaching degree and ended up a fully qualified FE lecturer. My school reports were full of "could do better" type comments. So my motto is never give up and at the end of the day a degree is just a piece of paper and if you put your mind to it you can succeed.
  14. That last chart from ECM John looks like the face mask that I have. It's one of those gel ones you keep in the freezer!!
  15. For all those bashing ECM tonight and making out that GFS is the dogs have you got any stats to back this claim up?
  16. Right feel slightly better today have had the lurgy otherwise known as "Man Flu". Nasty dose totally poleaxed me. Nice to see Jan back posting, welcome back Jan. Err guys I think the lack of cold is my fault I have been waiting for my weather station to turn up and it arrived today, needs a bit of DIY to fix it up outside but should be ready to go at the weekend so the cold can arrive then. . Coast I'll have you on speed dial a the weekend in case I need help .
  17. Can you also tell me what the lottery numbers are for tonight whilst you have your crystal ball out?!
  18. Post of the day for me was someone writing off not only the rest of winter but winters for the next decade!!!
