    This could be the understatement of the year but wow. Lightning is right over my head looks to be cloud based, so dark street lamps have come on and got very windy.

    Pfft who needs Met Office weather warnings . Deep rumbles and lightning alarm going crazy. Two scared German Shepherds trying to sit on my lap at the moment.

    Haven't heard about any more damage. Last I heard max gust Pompey had was 74 mph just saying on Sky News that Hayling Island is cut off by flooding at Langstone.

    Jeez how many!! Rain has been pretty bad today and with this wind on top. Total rain today was 21 mm and max gust so far is 59 mph.

    Yes but to be fair that is a very exposed site and it's almost out in the Channel.

    Indeed.In fact based on Met O raw data it has me down for peak gust of 71 mph. My point was that we need to stick to facts rather than hopecasting or scaremongering. Alot of people come on to our regional for factual information and we have a lot of posters on here that do just that. My advice to anyone unsure how to read the models and whats a more detailed prediction use Met O they have been spot on this winter.

    I have decided not only do you need a course to understand the warning maps from Met O but also a magnifying glass. If it carries on like this we won't even be here

    Couple of minutes of heavy rain but like you say blue sky now. Have two GSD's and the male one hates extreme weather goes mad barking at the gusts of wind and the thunder so he's not had a great time recently. The female one just tries to sit on your lap, not funny having a 40kg dog sitting on your lap. Maybe, just maybe we can get our dry afternoon before the deluge returns tomorrow.

    Hi AtlantisYes it has come over very dark but I think I may be lucky here and just miss me to the north. Crazy weather though more storms this winter than I have had from last few summers.

    Where are you getting these figures from? Yes there will be some intense gusts but nothing I have seen is mentioning those sort of speeds.

    Yea I reckon warnings will get changed today. A few rumbles just gone midnight and lightning alarm was gong off with some stuff bobbing along in the channel. Luke check out google they have had people saying its not just a case of putting sandbags down they have to be put down a certain way to be effective. Looks like we may get a dry slot this afternoon, here's hoping eh.

    Lol why do you think JP stays in here!! Actually just looking at Met O and it is upping the max gust every output current max now is 62 mph gust mid afternoon that is plenty enough thank you very much!
