  1. Hello, it's 3:47am, i am awake It's really kicking off out there, in the channel I've seen lightning to my south-south-east from here in North Devon It waited until late, but stuff is happening now
  2. Radar colourful tonight No sferics... so it's the good 'ol thundery rain coming up from the south tonight Most of the rain lately, has fallen during the night around these parts
  3. Yes, just looked at the lightning strikes. A lot of activity out there. Quite a night coming up for some of us
  4. With a beast of a nor-easter about to setup across the Atlantic, i found this, very interesting piece by Ryan Maue http://diginole.lib.fsu.edu/etd/2661/ You have a download link, top right, for the PDF document, with illustrations, to explain Warm Seclusion Extratropical Cyclones in depth
  5. Real Nutty Stuff Right up there, with people that suggest firing rockets into Hurricanes, to make them fall apart Some people just can't accept that Humans do not have any control over Nature
  6. Provided by LIAM DUTTON http://www.channel4.com/news/severe-storm-hits-sydney-video This is great. Roll Cloud
  7. Very high spring tides at the moment This morning, the sea was fairly calm, but with a big swell building, and the pebble ridge at Westwood Ho! was overtopped again Sea has become more rough during the day, and back it comes High tide is 7:30pm, still more than two hours away, and see how high it is already http://www.eyeballhq.tv/surfcheck/westward-ho/
  8. Scilly Isles have really been blasted overnight A gust of 74mph at 3am Center of low can be detected. Places in Devon, getting East winds Places in Cornwall, getting West winds Reminds me of sea breeze convergence
  9. Going back to Jan 3rd (stormy weather) This video shows a wave crashing into an amusement arcade, in Westwood Ho! Force of the wave, actually moved one of the arcade cabinets !! Scroll down to see video http://www.northdevonjournal.co.uk/VIDEO-Wave-crashes-windows-Mrs-B-8217-s/story-20684060-detail/story.html
  10. Was hoping for a calmer period. Pretty sure it doesn't feel that way in West Cornwall at the moment. Coastal Gales expected this morning, and the radar is showing red over West Cornwall, from this slow moving band
  11. Should be getting a rest from the deep storms for a while. Some time to reflect !! I just came across this vid. Nicely put together. Storm Surge - North Devon 2014
  12. http://news.sky.com/story/1211924/freak-wave-kills-man-on-storm-hit-cruise-ship Big Wave Kills Man On Storm-Hit Cruise ShipI prefer 'big' to 'freak'
  13. Seemed to have a lull for about 1.5 hours. Lights have flickered again, and winds picking up again. Some of us could be in for quite a wild night
  14. My lights have stopped flickering, and the wind has died a lot. This is a little worrying
  15. Worrying for next week, not so sure it will be much of an improvement, to be honest For Monday's chart, it showed a slow moving band of rain coming in from the west (over areas, that don't need anymore) A deeper system, may have moved the rain through faster. Slow moving bands of rain, will be just as serious
  16. I got flickering power - power spikes, every now & then Got my candles ready, just in case The sea state difference is amazing, the south coast, very rough North coast, fairly smooth.. that should change later, with the change of wind direction
  17. Just starting to veer more to the south-west for parts of the south-west Gusting into the low 50's here St Mary's - Scilly Isles, have had a gust to 72mph edit: back edge of front now going through, a bit like Wednesday Heavy rain, and increased gusts... sudden change to blue sky, to my west
  18. Heavy shower on radar. Falling as hail here on the coast (ground now white with hail) Anyone up Exmoor way.. could be a decent snow shower heading your way
  19. I'm wondering if this low is going to plan Watching animated sat loop. That cloud head is pushing north. The northern side of the cloud head is now level with central Ireland
  20. More mis-information. This time from Sky News Weather: UK To Be Hit By Storms In Next Week Three more powerful storms in the next seven days http://news.sky.com/story/1210968/weather-uk-to-be-hit-by-storms-in-next-week One more storm to come... but that should be it, for a while
  21. I think you have to go back a long way, to find one day, where the Met Office have not had at least one yellow warning out We shall all celebrate probably, maybe one day next week, we'll have one or two days free from warnings
  22. We have a Daily Mirror fail today They used an old sat picture, to fear us all, that three 'terror' storms are going to vent their wrath upon us https://twitter.com/callumeakins/status/433741583473967104/photo/1 https://twitter.com/liamdutton/status/433752773826732032/photo/1 Yesterday's Storm was in fact the white 'blob' in the centre of the image
  23. Friday low just a rain-maker? (flood hit areas won't like that) Not after seeing this ! https://twitter.com/RyanMaue/status/433666040917024768/photo/1
  24. I find it pretty amusing to see all these reporters standing out in it, and also one woman was interviewed whilst out in the wind & rain, and she advises people to stay indoors. So when are they going to take their own advice?
