  1. Boring as hell, the lack of posts is very telling, that a lot of people don't even feel the need to discuss the weather, cause it's pretty much the same from one day to the next Two years in a row, the Atlantic Hurricane Season has been a 'dud' - so that doesn't help to bring any energy into the Atlantic, and maybe wake things up a bit I'm fairly sure last September was similar, we have a long period without rain now... maybe another stormy winter to come. Can't help but think it'll balance out again, at some point (prolonged dry spell / prolonged wet spell)
  2. I was watching the sferics on the north coast of Spain this afternoon, and then i saw this on twitter Waterspout https://twitter.com/jdomingoce/status/511094422311043072/photo/1
  3. It's a Hurricane now, and forecast to become a Major Hurricane... for a while, as a 'fish' storm If anyone wants to intercept this Hurricane... will require a boat
  4. Extratropical shortly, but still hurricane force winds for a while There could be quite a sea-swell heading for western parts of our shores, over the next few days
  5. Mark Sudduth has a comment on his blog (hurricanetrack.com) "In fact, interests in the United Kingdom should keep watch over the post-tropical version of Cristobal as it tracks across the Atlantic over the next several days" It does seem uncertain where ex-Cristobal will end up, but it is forecast to become a very powerful extra-tropical storm, still with hurricane force winds, so best hope it doesn't make a beeline for the Uk
  6. Nothing beats a rainy bank holiday Monday, to bring out the moans in people Everyone i spoke to today - 'terrible weather isn't it?' Me: it's just a bit of rain Them: Yeah, but on a Bank Holiday Monday For frick's sake, the weather is not human, it doesn't care what people want, it'll do what it wants, and we have no control over it What is the point of moaning... and yes i'm moaning about people moaning
  7. ex-tropical storm, the big problem is always going to be the rain trouble is gathering on the radar now, to the south-west approaches, spilling in across the south-west Sunbathing weather... it won't be
  8. Could be some flying tents around, come Sunday then. There has been a lot of fine weather around this summer. This is potentially interesting, and caused me to awaken from my summer slumber Or it could all just end up as a storm in a tea cup
  9. Cooldown has started for me. Breeze now coming in off the sea. I have actually stopped sweating
  10. Storms have not followed the script, as tonight was supposed to be up the western side As far East as Brighton has gotten into the action thus far
  11. I've still got occasional flashes of lightning in my window, from those strikes that are close to lundy island
  12. The old lightning detector is going nuts !! South-east of Salisbury, and the eastern side of the Isle of Wight
  13. I have some evidence that it is in fact storming in my area right now Lightning did not show very well, but you'll hear the thunder
  14. just heard thunder outside, i think the temp is still above 20c Feels like a sauna Not a severe storm by any means, but it's a start !!
  15. Gawd Blimey.. nothing showing on the live lightning map (so not all strikes are showing) I've got cloud to ground strikes to my south It's happening folks
  16. Took a couple snapshots View from north window - sunset over lundy island Then i go to my north facing window, and it looks like this overhead:
  17. a tail of two windows here. My north facing window, has a stunning sunset over the ocean (with some clear sky out that way) My south facing window, has a very dark brooding thundery looking sky
  18. Nothing much heading up this way at the moment, but my sky to the south, has a bubbly 'mammantus' look about it
  19. Boom, first lightning strike on my map (unless it's a false signal) Has landed Just south of Dartmouth, Devon
  20. this was posted in the tech thread - lightning - real time http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en Cornwall watch out.. now the question is, whether it survives the journey across the channel
  21. Never mind looking at the radar. I've gone 'old school' Whip out that old AM radio, and listen to the sferics as they nudge ever closer
  22. 'Supercells in the SW by midnight' What do you think this is? Kansas? I'm starting to feel excited at the potential of the coming days. Right now, the only hot plumes i'm feeling, is when i open my oven door, as i have oven chips & fish fingers cooking
  23. What the hell is this crazy guy trying to do? Crazy Hail Storm... And Crazy Guy Trying To Protect His Car
  24. Two Short Video Captures. This storm just passed to the east of me. It's heading north Here in Westwood Ho! not a drop of rain Just a bit of a distant light show, at dawn
