  1. 2 days without rain i must be dreaming can we make it 3 days? Overnight low -1.2c Currently -0.8 Monthly temperature average now plummeting
  2. As mentioned earlier and to put a bit more meat on the bones GEM has indicated a possible snow event for central southern england on the 10th. ICON didn't really run with it so lets see what the GFS suggests
  3. Please please yesterday the last deluge for a while! I saw that corfe castle had flooding. Know that stretch well. Overnight low of 1.9c. Looking ahead Tuesday for our region looks particularly cold. Certainly an ice day for the moors.
  4. All those getting excited by the odd snow grain in the south east next week! Well I say why wait till next week. If you're prepared to climb up to 2000ft on dartmoor, the future is already here!
  5. Happy new year folks - back to work now and so have better access to the forums....don't ask. Looking good for some dry weather now which is such a blessed relief!!! Dartmoor is generally a bog but its nearly as sodden as i can ever remember it! A quick look back to 2023 the average temperature for the year in my location was 11.2c on a par with 2022. December 2023 averaged at 7.9c the warmest December in the 5 years I started recording weather observations. I should think this months average temperature will be a lot lower looking at the charts! Overnight low here was 3c Cheers all
  6. Morning all - Been a bit quiet here suffering with an end of term cold. Feeling right lousy! Good day today as its my last day at work before christmas. I know its a bit early but from tomorrow I am on jury duty. Eeeek! First time! Weatherwise we had a maximum of 11.2c over night, temperature has been dropping since midnight currently 9.8c
  7. 37mm of rain so far today - southern slope of dartmoor means we are the prime spot of this weather warning! Overnight low of 7.7c Lots of excited chatter on the MAD thread of charts at 15 days away. Might put the Samaritans number up there around 4.30 this afternoon.......
  8. Fear not on the railway front! I do drive but am utterly baffled by the railway infrastructure that was hastily lost in the 60's and what an amazing integrated transport network we could of had if foresight was in operation. Pivoting back to the weather - just look at dawlish a brisk south easterly these days closes the railway on the wall, it wouldn't be a problem if the north route was still there!
  9. Temperature drop of 2c in 30 minutes at lunch today from 7.9 down to 5.9c. Now at 5.5c a cold dank day thankfully not under that constant blanket of rain further up country!
  10. Back to the normal damp murky moorland climate! Fun while it lasted Temperatures peaked at 3.30 this morning with a high of 8.9c have trundled down to 7c now..
  11. Interesting developments for Monday for down here. Met office going for snow on the higher moor and top temperature for my location at 4c. Where as BBC/meteogroup going for 7c and rain. Obviously how the incoming low pressure interacts with the cold block is still subject to change Today the met office got it right temperature wise, their suggestion of 4c max was spot on
  12. Down to -0.9c last night. Decided to drive to work via a detour to find a bit of snow. The snowline being around 325 metres. Still blowing a hoolie up top so didn't hang around for long
