  1. The mass of ppn is heading more northwest looking at the radar could be a full on wet down for devon and somerset with the usual areas getting the snow!
  2. I wonder if I can convince the university to open a small campus in princetown which I would obviously have to run.........
  3. WOW!!! What a night. Got woken by the wife who was wondering what was going on last night, Opened the curtains and good god blocks of ice were seemingly falling from the sky. Accompanied by the soundtrack for thunder and lightening. That was midnight and then woken again at 6. Woolwell again is a winter wonderland with up to an inch deep of hail / ice. Again got 2 miles down the road and its just rain. Its getting darker down here in work so hopefully lots more thunder. To end off a surreal 12 hours put the telly on this morning and there is Princetown in all its snowtastic glory....no sign of the beast though
  4. just above freezing here 0.1C and light rain / sleet. Dew Points must be high, feels less cold looks like early chance of snow on the moor tonight
  5. BBC local forecast tonight was full of snowy potential but the met office website does not reflect this. Time lag or local weather playing it a bit thick so cover themselves for any disruption. Nowcasting is exciting but at the same time annoying as I want to know what will happen tomorrow....now!
  6. Yep that was one interesting forecast! Hint of caution though, this morning the local weather forecasted rain sleet and snow on the south coast when in the end it was a dry day. There is hope! Dartmoor gets plastered!! The hunt is on again
  7. If anybody not in the points west area does not have sky to check out Fergies weather I would suggest going to points west Facebook page. The forecast is posted 10 minutes after the programme has finished.
  8. Crikey thats 12 hours of snow!!! Seen the top of end of plymouth down grade from light snow - sleet and finally heavy rain. Tis a strange forecast as I thought the NAE charts showed more PPN further North and West. Good luck with that!!
  9. Concur with previous comments that the front has slid into the channel but local weather still suggests it will move up to the coasts. Evil to see how that would happen but we live in hope. The radar shows Penzance is getting some snow which must be a very rare event indeed.
  10. Looks like a lot of snowy ppn to the southwest of that last frame. Surely it should be rain out over the sea? Hope not and hope it comes onto land.
  11. You must hate the snow on the weekends though it was immensely mad on the road up there today. I'd take 5/1 on there being snow in camborne tonight.
  12. Tee hee! I'm in sure in summer you must feel you made the right choice
  13. In other words no snow south and west of taunton. Nevermind these things happen
  14. Flipping Nora its -3.5C coldest so far this winter by a country mile. Should think my altitude and that fields back on to the garden help to make it much lower than centre of plymouth (6 miles south of here). Princetown must be baltic!
  15. Phew! The hills are alive with snow, sledges and irresponsible drivers. Incredible people decide to park anywhere causing the most horrendous queues. Not sure how these people get licences, it was embarrassing to watch. Back to the weather looking like cold rain for devon and cornwall according to latest bbc weather for monday and tuesday.
  16. Yep major let down at the moment. Looks like the areas of ppn are heading into the channel missing us, so as the ppn is going to be minimal or very light it will tend to be sleety and rain
  17. Well yes indeed Plymouth is a dank wet old place in the winter. The snow line this week has been crownhill. Cold rain in town. I was lucky to get two or three inches IMBY (Woolwell) Indeed what we don't get in the winter we make up to easy access to the beach during the summer. The last time Plymouth as a whole got snow was the famous 2010 event, mind you before that it was some time in the early 1980's!!! Anyway its cloudy here and cold just about freezing might get the odd flake in the breeze (heres hoping)
  18. seen this somewhere but can't remember the link, is there a link that can let me have current dewpoints for my location? Cheers in advance
  19. Sadly wishful thinking there is not enough power in that system to make it this far west and even if it did any snow would be deposited over east dartmoor. Looking a bit forlorn down these parts now for further snow now, appears the tiny low pressures this week are too far south and in addition have too much warmth from the atlantic to bring us snow....well may be where you are! Much snow left up your way?
  20. Talk about a rollercoaster! Hope it switches back soon. Frustrating to have this cold air around no ppn!
  21. Flipping nora! I go out for a bite to eat and a swift half come home and the charts have changed and I am looking at the wrong end ofof marginal for snow on Monday. Tuesday has become mild or less cold. Feel for the cornish snow fans as it looks a bit cold rain. But the charts can change but this close to an event?
  22. Currently winds progged to SE on Monday so there is hope but can all change in blink of an eye or someone pressing return on a keyboard!
  23. Well we heard of people taking 40 minutes to get from crownhill to the george, then another 40 minutes up to leather tor. Just shows that snow still pulls in the crowds!
