  1. Still coming down at a pace in Billinge in between St Helen's & Wigan and even with the TV on can here the wind finally starting to pick up quite a bit.
  2. Incredible amounts for this part of the country, and its still coming down!
  3. I live on the side of Billinge Hill mate so luckily flooding is not an issue here. I can only imagine what parts of Wigan look like now and its still raining! In fact its raining heavier tonight than it has throughout the past 48 hours, incredible stuff!
  4. There seems to be a clearly defined back edge to this system, I assume its now going to start to pivot round the low pressure center which will soon be over the Irish sea?
  5. Haha! I won't be venturing anywhere tonight, if this rain persists and as forecast intensifies and even if we only get gusts of 50mph tonight its going to be a stormy night. Quite a serious situation unfolding here I feel. I think the Met Office may issue a Red warning for parts of our region tonight.
  6. There has been no wind at all of note from this system as of yet, I have no idea if and when its going to arrive either I'm out of my depth! lol
  7. In fact is anyone at the MO actually still awake? Huge amount of rain incoming!
  8. If I were the Met Office right now I'd be issuing warnings for the Midlands and West Midlands and later on North West England.
  9. From what I can gather its still showing some tropical characteristics. I expect rapid cyclogenesis to really kick in in the next 6 -12 hours. Interesting times ahead indeed.
  10. Impressive radar returns at the moment. Looks like a real "eye" just like a tropical storm. Plenty of convection firing off all around now also!
  11. It can't be that far away from you Barry, its been raining in the Greater Manchester area for the last 3 hours! Nothing heavy as yet but persistant, it will arrive trus me!
  12. About 5 minutes of extremely intense rain along with gusty & squally winds. How black it went out there was highly impressive, was like night time! No Thunder or Lightning observed though.
  13. Rain starting to pick up intensity here now, Squall Line incoming imminentely!!
  14. I certainly wouldn't rule it out. With the majority of the heavy precipitation falling during the afternoon it will coincide with the warmest part of the day. Temps are expected to be around 20 degrees even with no sun with the humidity we still have and taking in to account how unstable the atmosphere currently is I can see there being a far chance of some Thunders with hopefully some CC or CG Lightning.
  15. Don't be gutted mate were still in line for a couple of interesting days there's still hope. On the Liverpool subject my Dad is from Liverpool, they're cracking people, and the way the City is shaping up you should be proud of the City and its people.
  16. I'm from near Wigan and I can honestly say in all my 20 years of being interested in the weather I can count the number of decent Thunderstorms in the Wigan area on one hand. The North West really does get a raw deal when it comes to any kind of Severe weather. Thunder & Lightning, Snow etc. We do well with Winter Wind Storms but with the jet stream being so unactive for the last 3 or 4 winters even those events have been very few and far between.
  17. Chris R I'm living on Billinge Hill which is basically Merseyside just a few miles away from St Helens.
  18. Cheers mate, I'm gonna give it another hour I reckon should be sufficent for the front to have arrived pretty much, I'd be surprised not to see at least a few flashes of lightning.
  19. Cheers mate, I just thought with the current humidity and instability it could be capable of producing some Lightning albeit not frequent.
  20. SnowMania do you think this line of activity will reach the Liverpool/Manchester area with any electric capacity?
