SE and East Anglia general weather discussion 11/02/2018 onwards

Thanks for that.... It might be how I'm reading it but it's almost as though there is a veiled warning in there that the Level threat will be rising further. -

I'd be to agree with you. Let's face it, those of us that follow the weather this closely are probably in the minority. One of our neighbours is in her nineties and has meals on wheels and carers. An older friend of mine lives right next door to her. I'm just wondering if we should have a chat regarding next week and if this weather is going to be disruptive just how those meals on wheels and carers are going to get to her. Maybe alternative provision needs to be made.. -

Just out of interest although I know there is a Level One Cold Alert at the moment it would seem to me that a hell of a lot of folks really have no idea of this ever more probable bitter spell upcoming. At what does it get to more robust warnings to Joe Public. -

TBH I've not long come back indoors from watering my sheep and filling all the water troughs. The temperature has really really dropped. It is extremely cold already and at this rate I'll be wearing the Ram like a scarf round my neck next week. Trouble is he weighs an absolute minimum of sixteen stone ?? -

I may be wrong but I think it's a damn sight colder than yesterday... -
Hello Khodds...I've nipped over from the South East thread. Yes I'm getting the same response from my husband who thinks its rubbish and my neighbour would refuse to believe it and would work of the premise of talking it down so it doesn't happen ?. Well I'd personally rather be a bit aware of what could happen so I can make contingency plans. Best...

Absolutely wise words. I've worked with the elderly and you are totally right regarding falls. Whereas a young person usually will just get up for an elderly person a fall can be catastrophic. -

Yes, I think you are wise ordering for your Mother. My husband is a lot older than me... He is seventy as well. He is poo pooing the thought of any snow and cold and doesn't really follow any weather online. However I do. The great thing about Netweather is that it is very informative and in the case of the very severe weather that is possibly coming up enables us to make plans. I have already made an order for online groceries that is coming Saturday and am planning regarding my sheep and will be putting things in place this week so we are ready for severe weather. I think Netweather is a great and friendly site. Best wishes to all its members x -

This might sound a bit far fetched and I could well be wrong but I wonder whether the forecasters have to be very careful how they present and word the forecast as not to induce panic in the general public. As I say only a thought... -
