Retrogression to Greenland?
Yes,and i feel that that trop low will force it at some point,i just have that felling.
-
Still too much energy in the northern arm of the jet which stops the ridge from extending towards Scandi.
The GFS 18hrs run though could bring some very cold temps under that slack flow later, freezing fog and harsh frosts possible.
On the other hand theres always the UKMO fax chart for 120hrs:
Looks quite wintry for northern areas.
Wow,that looks quiet good nick,if only it went out to 144hrs,one of the best faxes i have seen for a while,BANK .

Im beginning to feel the love for the 18z...
Small HP developing east of iceland

Hi steve, loving it too with the trough into mainland instead of the north see area more south than the 12z run, also that secondery feature folowing on beheind holding the atlantic ridge at bay further
i could be wrong though,we shall see.

You lot are looking at the wrong part of the vortex! Hint - Look up.
yes cross polar, but can we tap into it,thank chio
-
But these little transitory differences occur all the time between runs, if the upper pattern started to show signs of a change - then I may raise my eyebrow
learning all the time
thanks for that nick, just noticed the pv there gaining,i see your point, eyebrows firmly flat then lol.
Edit:azores in the latter,ughhhhh!
-
Small transitory surface features like that won't make a hell of a lot of difference to the the outcome later on. One needs to look at the bigger picture, i.e. the upper pattern, which is pretty much the same as the 12z. Spot the difference at 500mb (those different colours showing 500mb heights).
You are probabley right nick, but doo we tend to look for small changes like this that may change things further down the line, small changes in the reliable could be of inportance, correct me if i am wrong.

blhhh!
the pub run
better luck tomorrow guys and all
still fi and more chopping and changing to be done untill we hit the reliable but the trend is still there, don't loose sleep over it,goodnight all.

shortwave much weaker at 180hrs,now lets see what follows, undercutting springs to mind.
-
-
And that I think could be critical because no matter how far west the initial block starts, I suspect that it will get pushed east from the start. But no worries if the vortex disruption pattern continues, because as that door shuts another will open.
I take it that you are talking about amplification chio, something we didn't see much of last winter.
-
Its way to fast through- so yes the block will slow it all down....
All seasons- its a nice thought- however that amount of energy wont move under the block,- as it moves closer the system will get sheared & eventually extend SE inthe form of smaller shortwaves-
S
Thanks steve for the reply,i know it's out to 240hrs,but could it become a cut off low,i see a ridge developing up into greenland on this run, could it join with scandi hp,just a thought.

Hi
i have never posted in this thread before but i have been reading in here for some time now.
i picked this chart from the ecm 12z at 168hrs as a learning curve for me and did a bit of drawing to see if there is a possible scenario from it,
is there any chance this would/could happen or is that pv to the north west of scandi too strong for any retrogression into greenland, clearly on some of the 12z models there is some undercutting going on,this is very interesting in deed.

MMMMMMM!,it worked yesterday,no the day before,it's gone 12 lolOk that's interesting as ff12 is (obviously) older than ff15. I just tried running it in IE (/puke) and there was a little "split" icon in the address bar that says "compatibility view: websites designed for older browsers will often look better, and problems such as out of place menus, images or text will be corrected". This makes me think that the website isn't particularly up-to-date (software-wise) which is why ff12 (old) can see it correctly when ff15 & chrome can't...
And on that note, I am off to bed in the land of no wind or rain and hoping it stays that way for rush-hour
-
Just acting like a tropical storm, it does look amazing, wait till this moves in it's going to be quite an event. Could say its only just started? those winds are going to energize and whip up big time.
Hi ESS
yes those winds are starting to get going to my east, interesting times.

works perfectly for me FF12
i take it that's firefox 12,i am running ff 15.0.1
-
Nope, mine doesn't work either. Scroller thingy at the top is moving across the times but there is just a blank grey box where the image should be. Am running Chrome and everything is up to date afaik...
hi PP
glad it's not just me then,i run firefox up to date with flash up to date too,so who knows.

the time bar is moving but no animation visible
maybe flash is playing up.
Did you press play? LOL sorry but I did think mine was broken until hit play .... Mine works fine, thats all I know - http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html
