It's snowing here :-D
-
Not at all. I only come on in the winter for the exactly same thing Also, personally, I'd rather it be mild and dry than cold and dry as when there's cold weather I only see it worthwhile with snow. However, I can still appreciate when a cold spell is a good one even if there's isn't metres worth of snow. We've just got to remember this spell has actually been a countrywide spell, something we don't see that often, and the snow has stuck around for quite a while (well, in inland areas it has). In terms of it being a great winter though, it looks like it's localised as John Holmes was saying it's worst snowfall where he lives for 30 years, yet for me it's more like 10-15 years, yet we both live in South Yorkshire. Maybe it just helps me with the amount of letdowns I've seen since model watching in winter since I joined this forum! Anyway, those showers are looking extremely tasty! Lewis, I assume those are the ones heading for North and East Yorkshire?

Thanks Lewis, not only for that quick forecast you've done for us just then, but for the time you've put into this site during the cold spell keeping us updated. We don't have any of the really (well, what I class as) "big" guns i.e. BFTP, GP, Steve Murr etc, apart from John Holmes, so it's nice having another person who obviously knows his stuff helping us all out.

I know this is for the Yorkshire/Lincolnshire/Pennines region, but has anyone seen the metoffice warning for the South? I've never seen them give a red warning before for snow. Lucky people!! London & South East England: Hampshire Oxfordshire Southampton W Berkshire Very Heavy Snowfall2000 Tue 51100 Wed 6There is a high risk of an extreme weather event affecting parts of Southern England this evening and overnight. A period of exceptionally heavy snowfall is expected with accumulations of 15-30 cm and perhaps in excess of 40 cm. This is expected to cause widespread disruption to the transport network and could lead to problems with power supplies.
