  1. High of 22.8oC Low of 13.0oC Cloudy morninng but mild clearing around lunchtime to bright blue skies until a few late evening clouds bubbled up
  2. Thank you! Do you have a source for that information? I can never seem to find overnight low stats. It seems they are very rarely reported
  3. Does anyone know what the highest overnight minimum for september is? I see Helene is bringing some high ivernight temperatures this week and in my location it may not drop below 18oC monday night so was wondering if it's even close to a record?
  4. Agreed! Hotter the better! May even get the last of the summer rays before winter sets in
  5. Persistent cloud all day with just the odd "brightness" just about making it through Temperature reached 22.4oC after a low of 16.4oC Rain set in around 5pm after intermittent drizzle and rain still continuing. Very humid feel tp the day with a dew point of 19oC around 5pm
  6. It's quite an old thread I made but just veen doing a little research and one station in reading had recorded a UV index in June of around 9.5! In the grand scheme of things this is an anomoly that as far as I can see is exceptional but even a quick browse through the records I found UV index's of quite a few places registering 9 which shows that we may not get much sun here but it is always worth checking the UV forecast before spending a day on the south coast, especially in/around the end of June!
  7. I would like to see an almost continuation of summer until the end of september with lots of dry weather and sunshine which can stay until mid october and then a cold blast mid october with the first frosts of the season but still relatively settled. Towards the end I wouldn't mind one last blast of warmth which around my area can bring sunshine and temperatures just into the 20oC even as early as the very beginning of november and then I would like winter to come in full force. Lots of early season snow, preferably an easterly feed so the weather is generally clear, crisp and dry and snowfall coming off the north sea periodically in big, hefty showers that give a couple of CM's of the white stuff Side note: We have spent all summer doing up the garden and would like it to be dry so we can enjoy it as long as possible before winter sets in. The odd Atlantic outbreak with strong winds wouldn't go a miss as I like to see a couple of named storms bringing strong gusts although down south the atlantic lows are often hyped up and we get nothing more than 40mph gusts and an hour or so of rain so I'm not too bothered about that.
  8. Yes it was great to go from extreme cold to warmth in my opinion, I hate the dull dreary grey days you can often get in early spring and even in the extreme cold spell, because the air was so dry we had a lot of sunshine. Well remembered will be the 23rd, 24th and 25th of February; for our aniversary we went to devon and stayed in beautiful appartment with a hottub outside Although the winds were bitingly cold we had deep blue sky from the moment we set off on the friday to the moment we got home on the Sunday evening! Sitting in the hottub nice and warm but with either blue skies or starry skies was reminiscent of being in Iceland. I would 100% so far play this year on repeat for the rest of my life and be content!
  9. A great summer, I voted terrific as apposed to the best in space because although it's been consistenly warm/hot I still feel like there could have been more days with unbroken sunshine! I understand that this year was wetter and cloudier than 1976 but warmest for England. I'm not neccesarily a fan of the heat but i am of the sun, give me spring all year round. My perfect summer would be temperatures around 23oC, low humidity during the day with clear blue skies and then some cloud overnight to keep the late evenings warm and the odd shower every week or so overnight to keep things green. Ofcourse that's never going to happen but that would be ideal. It really has been interesting following the weather day to day this summer and actually having a summer where we can sit outside, most days and get out and about without even giving the weather (or even a jumper) so much as a thought!
  10. Officially the hottest summer in England and it really has felt like it! Temperatures on most days have been above 25oC since as early as May and even today it looks like again topping out at nearly 25oC. 2018, the year I bought an aircon unit for my bedroom just to get some sleep and a summer I won't be forgetting anytime soon! In my opinion yesterday was perfect! Bright blue skies, 25.3oC and a very light cooling breeze! If only it could be like that for a couple more months and then some deep snow ?
  11. Another muggy start here in Hertfordshire at 15.7oC although cooler than the 19.1oC yesterday. A high of 29.8oC
  12. I agree! I live in Hertfordshire and we can get temperatures just as high as london on man accasions as the heat is pushed north from the city centre when the winds are from the south/south east. We also get a considerable amount of snow during cold periods with little blocking us from the cold arctic winds. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the UK as we seem to experience many extremes and we're in one of the driest parts of the country We do however always miss out on strong winds as the chilterns block strongest of the westerly winds but that's fine by me
  13. So far since april Northolt which is the closest observation site to me has had 33 days above 27oC 13 days above 30oC 3 days above 32oC Highest was 34oC Highest I measured in my garden was 32.9oC on the 26th of July
  14. Lots of high cloud but nice Temperature is currently 20.2oC Dewpoint is 15.4 Low of 19.1oC! High yesterday was 29.2oC Low yesterday was 17.6oC
  15. Hertfordshire 14.7oC was the low last night Currently 22.2oC with 68% humidity Was a humid start and is hotting up by the minute Bright deep blue skies since dawn
  16. Last night was the first night I really realised the nights were drawing in Was about quarter past 9 and pitch black outside don't want the long, dark nights back yet
  17. Temperature currently 21.3oC Humidity is 79% Dewpoint is 17.5oC Its been a strange day so far. Light drizzle on and off with only limited brightness now peaking through the clouds in the last half hour. Feels very humid dispite the relatively low temperatures. Got down to a low 17.8oC
  18. Temperature dropped to a "low" of 19.5oC last night Went to bed around 11pm and it was still 25oC! Temperature has just hit 31.1oC in my garden and humidity is 46
  19. 24.0oC here in St.albans A low of 19.6oC which is the highest minima I can remember recording and I've had a weather station since about 2003 although I d9nt keep records so can't verify
  20. Think we're still in for a chance of the hottest July day I doubt it will reach above 38.5oC but if the sun shines long enough in 1 particular place then it could get close!
  21. It's all very exciting! My room is icy cold with the aircon on but staying at my partners on a second floor flat and I'm overheating just a tad! Must be atleast 35oC in here still
