ARW WeatherMan replied to ARW WeatherMan's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
See even we have seen a different percentage, I saw 30% on the BBC today but even 20% is better than 0%! -
Possible new UK all time record
ARW WeatherMan replied to ARW WeatherMan's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Met office are currently saying a 30% chance of beating the 38.5oC Mark on Friday Personally I don't think it will even hit 37oC but I remember thinking that uusg before we hit the 36.7oC making it the hottest July day a few years back I am a bit done with heat now and I'm a sunworshipper but I'm more just interested in the statistics at the minute Driest start to the summer since 1961 is it? And a chance the hottest July ever recorded could be broken too is getting me excited -
Made this thread last week about this coming week but was closed due to supposedly there being little chance of it happening Current predictions even now by netweather are suggesting near record temperatures tomorrow or Friday What is your guys thoughts?

Who else cant wait for this heatwave to end??
ARW WeatherMan replied to snowgirl30's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I had the bedroom door open to try and cool the entire house down a bit, it's only 8000btu but does the job, woke up to a very cold 18oC this morning and had to turn the temp up! Perfect nights sleep, it's also kept the downstairs cooler due to the cooler air sinking down the stairs -
Who else cant wait for this heatwave to end??
ARW WeatherMan replied to snowgirl30's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
It's currently still 26oC outside and with a high of 30.5oC today I'm now desperately trying to cool my room down with my new aircon It's gone from nearly 30 to 27 over the last 3 hours but it is helping! Was on the south coast this weekend and temperatures around 25oC and wall to wall sun Apparently it's been cloudier here in north London and hot and humid Its the humidity which is getting to me but it's interesting to experience weather similar to the heatwave of 1975 which everyone always refers to so long may it last -
At what temperature is it too hot to sleep at night?
ARW WeatherMan replied to Lauren's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I can always sleeo but to sleep comfortably I like the indoor temperature to be around 21oC anything below I get a bit chilly and above 23oC I find too warm Its currently 27.7oC in my room and 25.5oC outside My house is always as hot as an oven as my house faces South and I'm in the front of the house with big tipple windows Luckily I recently bought an aircon! It was 29.4oC an hour and a half ago when I turned it on so hopefully by 10pm it will have dropped below 25oC and by morning be around 18oC which will be perfect when the sun is baking through the windows -
Wednesday 18th July weather observations
ARW WeatherMan replied to Summer Sun's topic in Weather reports
Mostly sunny morning then cloud came over and has remained mostly cloudy since midday with just the odd sunny spells Low of 16.4oC last night High of 24.6oC currently but still rising slowly -
I may be wrong but the BBC forecast on the TV have been mentioning mid 30's for next week in a few of their forecasts and TheWeatherOutlook which from following it for quite a few years seems to be correct most of the time it says possibility of near record breaking temperatures This was from their Buzz feed this morning

Help me find the HUMIDITY forecast?
ARW WeatherMan replied to Ratbag's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Humidity is relative to the temperatures and forecasters use the "relative humidity" in their forecasts 50% relative humidity when the temperature is 20oC will feel dry compared to 35oC with 50% humidity It's hard to gauge how humidity will effect you personally although accuweather have a great service called "Health forecast" which hopefully could help? https://m.accuweather.com/en/gb/health-weather Or look at the humidex calculator for the day in your area and compare it to the actual forecast temperature The bigger the difference the more humid it will feel https://www.netweather.tv/weather-forecasts/uk/will-it/hot Hope this helps a bit, remember hot air can hold more moisture than cold so I'm afraid the hotter it is the more humid it will feel in general -

Was a hot and humid night in Hertfordshire last night, I recorded a low of 18.6oC in my garden Closest met office station. Is northolt which recorded a low of 17.6oC We've ordered 2 air con units for the house due to lack of sleep, when I woke this morning the temperature was still 27.5oC in my bedroom with fans on nd windows wide open! -

Yes definately! A UV index of 8 in your back garden on grass will be a UV index of 8 If you're on the beach with the sea and sand then up to 30% of that UV will be reflected back off the ground/water so you'll be looking at 9/10 regardless of what the meter is reading.
