  1. Hi Steve, I have noticed how low the temp has gone down this week.... I managed to get a reading of 2°C this week... so definite signs of some cool air coming around in the evenings as we encroach on the late autumn / early winter period. I think within the next several days we will see the possibility of a later 2nd half of November cold shot - just a hunch though, no scientific reasoning behind it. JK.
  2. Hi Guys, Received my £10 cheque yesterday for my prediction from Tuesday, 11am - 2pm down in West Wales - grid 28062 !! Fair play, they send it out really quick and this is a good bit of fun. JK
  3. Hi Steve, Well - just seen the Welsh forecast on Beeb - and they have the snow on us (South East) until about 3pm - no rain then appears as it goes 'dry' - rain not coming until midnight (and then rest of week!) - so might have a good afternoon up here with us? JK
  4. Hi Guys, Anyone who has not been out - it is a lot colder than it has been for quite a while - probably mainly due to the windchill - the temp is also hovering at zero up here in Bargoed. We have the snow still coming down light but it is blowing around - it is sticking quite quickly as we have a covering - shows how dry it is and also cold ground temps. Could this cold air be stubborn and stick around a bit longer - would certainly think it could? All I need now is the tumbleweed outside - also - gets some in here - its like a morgue! JK
  5. Light snow at the moment here in Bargoed - sky is also full of it - quite surprised. I see though, form the latest forecasts, that the mild air will push rain in quicker than they originally progged last night so quite disappointed - was hoping to go 'gosh its bad up the valleys -I got to go home' in work later. Not going to happen now (I work in Cardiff!) Lets hope the weather, again, especially the cold, decides it loves us and wants to stick around Wales! JK
  6. I take it from the quietness in here it looks rather disappointing for the rest of the week and next few days in particular? The local forecasts are now showing snow risk gone except for Northern Wales? I did say yesterday that the milder air is making incursions further and further inland and this appears to be ocurring. I thought we were due some more snow but cannot see it. JK
  7. starting to snow on the heavy side here in Bargoed - here we go again. JK
  8. Hi Steve, You must have woke me up - I awoke at 2am and came down to see the snow in full flow. I am disappointed to have woken up just before 9am to the same 2 inches starting to melt a you said but my weather station showing 6.2 degrees and rain. However, that was 20 minutes ago - the temperature is now 3.1 degrees and big lumps of sleet falling! I too cannot see the snow lasting tomorrow as the milder air gradually day by day seems to be making further incursions northwards each time we get a low pressure coming in before getting pushed back. We need the cold air to dig south and establish itself over us again. Dripp drip drip - but white at the moment - is this my last lying snow of the winter? Steve, I will toot when I go pass you later as I am coming over to Peny Bont behind you to see my niece who is 9 today. Clear a path for me? JK
  9. coming down very heavy here in Bargoed - we have 2 inches at the moment and looks great! JK
  10. Hi Steve, It's dropped to 0.5 here in Bargoed - you must have got some hot air over there!! JK
  11. Hi Guys, A lot of doom & gloom in the MOD thread - yes things have 'downgraded' according to the 06Z - but could just as easily come back on line with an upgrade in the next runs - this block is going knowehere fast and has been stubborn for ages now - I think we might get a few surprises back on track later on this evening and tomorrow morning. Wales, I am convinced, will be involved in some good snow events this week. Considering it was supposed to be 7 degrees today - it has only reached a blistering 4.3 degrees here today - lower starting point for later me thinks might be beneficial. Keep chins up, I am sure things, as I say, will improve in the next 24 hours - be optimistic! JK
  12. The lastes Beeb chart with Carol show the snow only clipping the far South East of Wales - there is a definite north eastward push on this if that is correct and will take our snow away from us - boo hoo !! JK
  13. Hi Guys, Cold spell up coming and increasing in strength and instability as the week progresses. Joe B has an update at 3am regarding the instability of the cold air southwestward and what looks like might be a very snowy period, add to that GP and his thoughts last night - AND Steve Murr getting excited (in his own way) - we could be on the cusp of a great spell of winter weather - and I am sure Wales will join in the fun. Beeb Wales show it dry on their graphics - but only till Thursday - then you get the News 24 showing showers getting as far as the east of Wales - this is an event that will be virtually 'nowcasting' as to the distribution of the showersand/or heavier ppn in the initial stages - then next weekend and next week is where the fun 'should' start. As described - this is a slow burn - get the cold - snow will come. JK
  14. Hi Steve, I lived (yes I am John) in number 5 between 1994 & 1997. Looks like the weather is a taking a mild twist and then going to twist more mild at us. Just went out to the car and it is iced over - all snow that fell has turned into ice and I could not open the door - might be dodgy first thing tomorrow morning me thinks. JK
  15. Hi Steve, Yup - nice flakes here in Bargoed - I don't think we going to get a day off though - not supposed to last long and the ground temp is a bit too warm. However, would be nice to be wrong! Make the most of this as from what the charts have been showing not much more to come this week! JK
  16. Hi Guys, Sad to see the thread quiet - might pick up next week? I notice the Beeb forecast going for snow in 'South Wales' Tuesday night/Weds morning and yet the graphics for snow were not on South Wales - this is another 'we don't know/ we are unsure' - I cannot see where we will get snow with the air temps etc - be glad to be wrong but this does look a further north and even then only for the higher elevation event. Anyone else feel the same? JK
  17. ...lucky you ....I can't get out of the front door!! JK
  18. Wise decision there! PS: Your surname is not Clarke is it? JK
  19. I think so - he is going to find it difficult otherwise to get home. JK
  20. Quite rough here and blowing all over the place with quite a bit of settling snow - just got up my street in the car and parked up - anyone else will now struggle as it is impossible to get any grip. Temperature has dropped to 0.1 degrees - wind is very strong. This keeps up - it will be substantial - hope there is no let up! JK
  21. Hi Guys, I don't know about anyone else - but this weather disappearing into a sad 'milder' versions is like a favourite Aunt having been here for Christmas and finding out she just decided to leave on the next train withou any warning. Strange analogy I know but how some probably feel, me included!!! Anyway, South Wales now taken off the warnings for Tuesday & Wednesday - still on the coloured graphic, but the wording specifies Mid & North Wales - I think we can describe the current situation the same as the weather the next few days - messy with a lot of grey areas! JK
  22. MetO warnings - website now states these have been cancelled - ha ha - egg on face or what! Updated at 11:30 am Sunday 10th January. So it's official - we get nothing but the red of embarassment! JK
  23. Hi Guys, Trawled around the other regional forums - there is a lot of talk about a thaw at the moment - I think we have got a lot of warmer air than was first thought. Unless we get heavy ppn this is going to be a nothing event. I know they have forecast, sorry warned us, that this will be from 18:00 onwards on Sunday - just cannot see it myself. There seems to be a lot of dispondency around - we just need to hope there are some great surprises to come - after all, weather is pretty unpredictable! Even though many try. The event on Tuesday, this seems to be slow coming in and I think there is warm uppers well in advance of it so this might become a non event on Tuesday as well - so if we do not get much overnight and Moday daytime - I think we are at an end for the time being of snowcasting! JK
  24. Hi Guys, Well this looks to be going way of the pear! Ppn seems to be disappearing and all we are going to get is flurries - again, Meto warnings are ridiculous - we know they do not guarantee snow etc - but they are pure crap! JK
