  1. Gavin Partridge has just tweeted to say end of cold is defo in sight next weekend as it turns mild but very wet. Seemed very confident of that. JK
  2. If thats the 5 day it's computer generated and normally laughable - not taken too seriously. Hopefully it will be right this time! JK
  3. Light snow coming down up here in the valleys as well. JK
  4. Over on the MOD thread there seems to be a bit of doom mongering into the cold spell coming to an end quite soon - probably end of the week latest. The impression I get is that Wales will remain dry the next few days, not too cold at night - considering how cold it could get with snow on the ground and clear skies - the anticipated 'snow' *attacks* earmarked for Monday/Tuesday, if they do make it, could well be very marginal indeed. Tomorrows front will not move west enough for us to get any action. Interesting times - but perhaps we are just hoping for more - but signs are we will be disappointed. Hope not. JK
  5. I don't think temperatures will fall away too much as the cloud cover will keep things higher and stop the heat loss too much. 0.2°C is the warmest I have had today so absolutely minimal thaw if any at all - moderate breeze making things feel very raw outside. JK
  6. Minus one here in Bargoed but got melting snow and drizzle[very fine] coming down. Very disconcerting to say the least and very surprising. Any ideas whyJK
  7. Temperature dropping here -1.6°C - getting cold already.... JK
  8. I think there was sporadic heavy snowfall - some places got lots more than places very close by, I do agree that the red warning was very ott. I got 9 inches out of it and it's beautiful - but it's now stopped and not continuing all day as forecast. No more for a few days - very little in way of melt though next few days.. JK
  9. I can confirm I am in the red area and there is a very large amount of snow on the ground already - and currently close to 9 inches and still heavy. JK
  10. Some strange reports of rain in some parts of Cardiff and Neath etc earlier - and some people in Powys chumping their gums telling Derek to get his passport because nothing? My missus is working nights 3 miles from me in Blackwood - and she said there is about 2cm and wants to know what all the fuss is. This band seems to be random? JK
  11. I work in Tongwynlais Jay - I can't get in as I am snowbound up here - but would the buses be going down there? JK
  12. Just had a tweet off Liam Dutton and the precipitation is still going to be as intense as predicted and the areas for the most snow still on target.... bang tidy! JK
  13. Thats what my underlying 'niggle' is - temperatures - got to drop - but it will be a fine thing - hope then that it would not get an unexpected rise and cause forecasts to be completely caught out. JK
  14. I would get daggers and 'told you it wouldn't snow' jibes from a few people - and they would not be in jest. Coming closer....... JK
  15. Started a bit of a blow up here as well. Not long came in and it certainly is eerie out there as you say..... JK
  16. Looking at the radar the heavier bursts currently further north than South Wales and more into Southern Ireland - am I missing something here or is the angle of attack taking a more northerly route? It looks like a narrower band initially and I have a funny feeling my curtains will be open to just an inch of snow and having to go to work in Cardiff all apologetic becasue they will blame me for the fact there is no snow. JK
  17. the front doesn't look that impressive - is there real confidence behind the amounts in the warnings? JK
  18. Cheers Steve, You know what the last minute nerves are like! Looking forward and staying up later to ensure it is underway. A game of FM13 until around 2am looks highly likely...... then boom! JK
  19. I remember a few times in the late 70's early 80's when heavy snow, blizzards etc were forecast - I would get up open the curtains and - nada!! This happened a few times and the sinking feeling was horrendous. Someone allay my last minute fears and tell me this isn't going to happen - I am getting last minute nerves! I will not go in the MOD thread beacuse IMBYism is coming up with one liners downgrade etc - and my heart sinks for a short while until I notice their location is in a poor spot etc..... JK
  20. Looks like the front is not making a strong eastward push - as expected against the block/cold air - this, in my opinion, gives more chance further west of the snow - so hopefully all of Wales will get a good portion of the snow - along with out Northern Ireland friends. Small changes even at this close range and we still have 18 hours to go before the front approaches. Interesting... and don't forget the winds - this will cause quite substantial drifting in many places. Brrrr!! JK
  21. Heavier snow now in Gilfach - where did this come from - not forecast really....??? JK
