  1. I think you could be right actually! Although the steering winds are gradually turning more Southerly the further north it heads.
  2. The Cherbourg stuff looks to be heading N/NNE. The Solent looks to be in the firing line!
  3. Central / Northern France is firing off at the moment. Wondering if this will hit the SE later? Or see more development to its North as the night carries on. We shall see.
  4. Some real opportunities for quite a few coming in over the next week, as that cut off low loiters out to our SW! The South and Southwest could see some decent SB storms forming over the warm seas underneath that cooling air above. Waterspouts definitely not out of the question either! Widespread activity looking likely after this weekend.
  5. This is one of the best vids I’ve seen of that same one so far. A real crazy storm.
  6. There’s going to be some big time storms in the Med this autumn, starting in September I would say. Sea temps are still touching 29-30c in places near the Balearics! Wish I was heading to Majorca or somewhere this year, but unfortunately not! At least we have the cams there I suppose!
  7. For me, it was far better than expected, so much so I didn’t have to even head for a quick chase. The fact that I had work put a big lid on things for me, as I would’ve probably been up all night monitoring the radar. Last night was that one rare occasion where things actually happened further west than what the models suggested. I just about woke up in time to see some amazing distant lightning exiting North Norfolk at around 3AM, followed by the main complex approaching from the S at 04:30-05:00AM. A decent night/morning on what has been a very poor year, especially given the heat we have had. Just goes to show that you need the high dew points, and a trigger or cooler air nearby in order to create a buoyant atmosphere, otherwise the heat is just useless.
  8. My god, this is madness. Driving down the A10 and all I saw was crawlers to the East the whole way down to Littleport!
  9. @Norfolk Sheep Surely you must be having a decent storm!! It looks brill from here.
  10. Starting to hear the thunder from that beast to my S now. I may hold off from driving now as I think my view is good enough already! Plus I’d end up being late for work knowing me!
  11. Beginning to see them now more often. Think the main electrical area will head over Dereham/Norwich. I might hit the road before work to try and get this lot!
  12. That storm off the Norfolk coast has a mad flashing rate now. Typical as it heads offshore! Every 2-3 seconds. Think I may have just seen the first flash to the South now!
  13. Woken up, and seeing loads of flashes to the East. I fear I’ve missed the chance to Intercept it however! Lovely distant viewing still. More to come by the look of it further S!!
  14. Loads of AcCas floccus and turrets starting to accelerate past now reflecting in the twilight. Going to attempt to get my head down for a bit. Alarm set for 2AM!
  15. Anyone chasing tonight, I would stick with anywhere east of the IOW to the Wash, this is going by the average call by the high res models. Going to be very touch and go for me. I’m literally right on the boundary of the warning lines. Likely I will see a good show to my direct East and Southeast if I stay put. A small trip along the A47 towards Nodge could be required.
  16. I’d say if you’re seeking somewhere for the best variety of weather in the UK, the best place has to be Lincolnshire. It sees the most storms, usually warm in summer (now holds the all time UK record temperature!) and usually does very good in an easterly setup (longer sea track, more snow). Doesn’t do too badly in a Northerly cold snap either, especially near the coast.
  17. Already activity beginning in the middle of the Bay of Biscay. I’m assuming this is the stuff that is likely to hit the SE and East Anglia later tonight.
  18. I may have an early sleep tomorrow after work, and then have a nocturnal chase if things kick off to the East and Southeast (hopefully overhead really!). I’m right on the edge of the risk by the looks of it. It’ll be straight to work after the chase though at 6am! (What’s the betting that’ll be when it all kicks off!!)
  19. My eyes are now focusing on Wednesday and Thursday. Quite a bit of potential for something big over them two days heading NE out of Biscay and France. At the moment, it’s looking like the usual IOW to Lincs/EA and Eastwards line, but something to keep a watch on. Quite a bit of decent CAPE overlapped by some decent shear.
  20. I know it’s European related, but it deserves some attention, seen as this thread and storm season has been so quiet. A wild night/day across the Med. Turns out that storm was indeed a derecho. Originating off Costa Brava/Blanca and finishing up in Hungary! Corsica and Menorca bore the brunt.
