  1. Had some very light snow as I was walking back from the pub at about 11:20. Bodes well for tomorrow :o
  2. Light snow in Scarborough finally. At least it's something
  3. Had some light snow here. Very large flakes, but they seem to spend more time going up than down due to the turbulent wind outside lasted an hour or so and it's quietened down now.
  4. Some really heavy hail coming down at the moment here. Covered what surface had avoided a cover so far such as the main road...
  5. Had some light snow around 4:00ish. In the last hour or so whilst I've been away from any windows, it's come down heavier and added another covering to all surfaces. Only a cm or two though.
  6. Light snow flurry falling at the moment Edit: Really chucking it down now
  7. It's been snowing on and off since yesterday evening here. Total stands at about 3 inches, drifting to over a foot in places. However, nearer the coast where a lot more showers have been falling it's not accumulating as easily, so they've probably had more snow, but less to show for it. I couldn't count the individual showers which have come through, but probably as many as 20 They don't tend to last long before being replaced by 15 minutes of glorious sunshine, then more snow and hail. Current back yard picture,
  8. We've had snow here on and off today. Was snowing at 4:00am as I went to bed, and then snowed during the morning while I was asleep. Still only accumalating in the corners of buildings where it has drifted slightly. No snow for a while now so thats probably the end of it for this winter
  9. It is snowing here in Scarborough at the moment. It's only light, but I guess this bodes well for later on.
  10. We had a few lingering snow showers early this morning which re-covered the driveway and road out back which had been clear for a while. The road conditions here are treacherous as most of it froze after it fell. Now I'm looking to the west for the next snow to arrive. Hopefully it will be here overnight, when it will be coolest and I'll wake up snowed in tomorrow!
  11. Snowing here in Scarborough at the moment. There has been 3 moderate shows leaving about an inch of snow so far this morning, in addition to what fell last night.
  12. We;ve finally got a dusting of snow in Scarborough. took long enough for it to turn form rain to the white stuff. Here's hoping theres a nice covering in the morning
  13. The snow is laying again here. It's about the 4th snow shower since lunchtime (when I woke up due to seeing a midnight showing of king kong ) It's finally cold enough for it to settle nicely now though. I can't say it's snowing very heavily unlike earlier, but enough to give a reasonable dusting on all surfaces
  14. We've had some more proper snow in Scarborough whilst I was in York this evening. Came back and there is a covering on some small roads, and the cars and garden have a layer of the white stuff. It's only right on the coast, as there was nothing on the ground in places as close as Staxton for instance, which is only 5 miles from Scarborough and not that far inland.
  15. So me very fine hail falling in Scarborough atm... I would say it's too solid to be snow as it's bouncing off the ground but it is finer than I'd imagine hail to be... Quite strange as the sun is still out at the moment.
  16. Drove through some wet snow in Scarborough just before 8:00. The shower turned into quite a nice hailstorm after a little while. I even think I heard some thunder after it all passed...
  17. Had a snow shower about 9:30-10:30. A good dusting of snow on the ground and roads. Quieter now though

  19. Was a very nice storm, but I was stuck inside and didn't get to see much I was aware of lightning at 8:30 for an hour, then it started up again at about 10.00pm for a while.
  20. About 5:50 here in Scarboroughm the Skies turned dark, and I was witness to a spectacular Thunderstorm with hail and heavy rain. It provided a spectacular sight as it sailed over Scarborough Bay, with the hail shaft illuminated by a vivid rainbow, with occasion CG lightning (CS? = Cloud-Sea). Lots of towering clouds still around so might not be the last of it for us here B)
  21. 14:50 - Had a torrential downpour for all of 30 seconds, then a huge rumble of thunder, and then it went quiet again. It's just drizzling a little at the moment Very bizarre... It had been mainly sunny for most of the day, but lots of cb's missing North, South, East and West. Guess we finally took a small one full on B)
  22. If you are wanting more info about flooding etc from the 28th, this is a news article which briefly mentions the problems caused in Scarborough by the rains. We had a particularly nasty storm come through at about 9:45pm which lasted for about half an hour and turned some of our roads into rivers. 2 of the 3 routes leading away from my house were impassable for a while Link: http://www.scarboroughtoday.co.uk/ViewArti...ticleID=1101081
  23. Well the flooding I predicted last night occured, there was about 2 feet of water at the bottom of my road at the worst of it, which completely cut off Scarborough General Hospital, meaning ambulances couldn't get in or out. According to the newspaper, water was 4 feet deep in some areas and while I saw lots of evidence of fairly extensive flooding, I didn't see anything quite like that... The place with the worse flooding is only 2 minutes walk away so I might have to check it out and see if I can see any water marks on the walls of the buildings around there at some point. There was an awful lot of mud and silt covering the roads this morning too I noticed, before the council sweeped it to one side. Scalby Road (A170) must have been like a river during the worst of it.
  24. Another huge storm is now sat over Scarborough. Some of the prettiest lightning I've ever seen and torrential rain. Using my basic method of measuring rainfall, which consists of measuring how big of a waterfall is created by the gutter above my bedroom overflowing, this is the heaviest it's been all year. Heavier than the June 3rd and June 19th storms which both caused localised and flash flooding in the area All this rain on top of a full day of consistent drizzle and frequent downpours is surely causing some flooding issues around here.
