  1. As you probably know, Catch, I might, although I do wish the Scottish ski resorts a prosperous season. As unavoidable as winter is, I would prefer blue skies with bright crisp dry days.

    Glen Etive

    From the album: ciel's pics

    A wild and beautiful glen.
  3. Mild-ish (11C) - the early morning breeze has dropped and now sunshine and showers is the order of the day .
  4. LOL, I do have a couple of mini lakes in the garden. This morning again, dismal, low cloud, mist and hardly a breath of wind - not too cold tho' - around 10C.
  5. It's definitely been a grey, welly-boot day, here.
  6. I'm not suggesting that a cold winter/s will not occur, just that, if they do, it does not infer that dramatic long-term scenarios or trends of brutal cold, volcanic eruptions, famine etc, etc, etc. (electroverse stuff) will occur. And I'm more convinced that volcanic eruptions were substantially causal to the (500-150yrs ago] historic periods of colder than average temps and not the resultant.
  7. Maybe that's because: Human Influence on Climate Change is Bigger than the Sun's A grand solar minimum would barely make a dent in human-caused global warming SKEPTICALSCIENCE.COM
  8. Wintry showers were still blowing over the higher hills in NW/W Scotland today as confirmed by @Mr Frost above. Snapped this view from the Tokyo area earlier. (all my pics recently have been nae good) (Glen Etive) Back in Kincardineshire, it is cold with quite clear skies, snow free and I am keeping an eye on the aurora forecasts for tonight.
  9. A cold, bright day hereabouts with a few passing rain showers and evidence of overnight snow on the higher peaks in the area. View across Loch Linnhe (Ben Nevis on the far left)
  10. A day of sunshine, showers and gusty wind, location dependent over a relatively small area. Mallaig was uncomfortably blowy and cold while Sunart was calm and pleasant. The doggie stroll on the sandy beaches north of Arisaig was fine. Daytime temps varied from 5C to 10C. Sunshine and showers: Loch Sunart.
  11. It was a beautiful day in Ardnamurchan, total blue sky in the morning and a few puffy clouds wafting in from the west in the afternoon. Although not warm, according to the thermometer, the lack of wind made it feel very pleasant. The temp dropped sharply later as the sun dropped behind the hills. Downside for me was all the photos today are rubbish. Caught this little group of hinds, unexpectedly crossing the road, which were being shepherded by quite a young stag, I think.
  12. I'll add this The UK's new trade secretary met with US pressure groups to discuss weakening regulations UNEARTHED.GREENPEACE.ORG
  13. Well yes, but surely the purpose of these 'quizzes' is simply to raise awareness of an individual's personal CO2 footprint.
  14. As viewed from the Glen Quaich to Kenmore minor road.
  15. A bright fresh morning, 9C, and the wind has abated. The east has certainly managed to dodge the recent rain. This French Hen lingered for a spot of autumnal sunbathing on the barn roof.
  16. LOL I ventured outside (the door-step anyway) earlier this morning in the rain. There was a rabbit in the garden. However, even after pointing out to my spaniel, Jess, 'BUNNY' she sort of rolled her eyes and trotted back inside. Disagree with Catch's opinion about spaniels. Jess is an exceptional companion, very sensitive and well-trained - mind you, it drained about 5 years of the owner's patience.
  17. Well, the niche spot of severe frost requiring 'scrapping' of windscreens ( if there was one) must have sent you heavenwards.
  18. Not directly weather related, but may have a seasonal relevance. Perhaps @Northernlights can comment. This white stuff has been applied to the former barley field ( harvested 10 days ago or so) on several days over the past week. It blows into my garden. Lime?
  19. Don't be silly. There has not been an overnight hard frost anywhere, as yet, requiring more than a sweep with the wipers.
  20. Have you had a 'crisp day' yet. Or do you expect one soon?
  21. Yes, me too, but I also have looked out my warm pjs and wooly jumpers.
  22. I was lucky enought to watch this lift-off at Montrose Basin not long after sunrise yesterday morning. The cacophony was ear-splitting.There are around 50,000 Pink-feet there at present and numbers will build over the next couple of weeks or so before the majority disperse to overwinter at The Wash and Morecambe Bay.

Pink-footed Geese It was bright enough but darn cold, 6C and a brisk chilly breeze. A clear starry night this evening, and so I am expecting another chilly one.
