Whatever we want this winter doesnt even amount to what those people in america are going through. Just puts everything into perspective. Who really cares what happens it doesnt really matter. Just thankful our tiny little ireland doesnt have to go through things like there going through right now. Lets just enjoy our winter and if it does turn out rubbish then i guess to be honest its fine. At least in the uk we are safe from storms like there seeing.

Oh dear me joe laminate floori is at it again with his snow warnings for us. When will he give it a rest.Looking at the next 10 days its looking wet and cool. Then further than that your into crystal ball territory. So i will be taking that with a huge pinch of salt. To be honest he is very much like mad piers corbyn certainley wouldnt bank on his winter doomsday been correct.

Well after this short lived cold snap looks like were going to be wet and stormy for the forseable future. Must admit i will echo crewe colds thoughts yes the cfs has been churning out run after run of mild zonal mush. Hope this isnt picking up the trend for winter. Although it is throwing in some colder outlooks aswell so all not lost i suppose. But worrying signs when it keeps the consitencey with the mild outputs. Guess its going to be a long winter of model watching lol. And i think we should get a lorry load of anti depressents ordered just in case in does go horribley wrong.

Well reading matt hugo's update over on the strat page sounds like we could see a mild zonal nov-dec with the cold coming jan/feb time now i think this is the most likely outcome at the minute. Looks very much like the strat will not play ball for the 1st half of winter. But jan/feb could be very intresting indeed.

Well gfs sticking to its guns this morning. Making this cold spell a none event really. Plus the gfs picked up on it first so cant be dismissed.Plus the ukmo has also gone along with the gfs pushing the cold out further east. Only real comfort this morning is the gem model. But does look like this cold spell might be a none starter before it even got going. -
Just looking at some of the models and it looks like in a couple of weeks we lose the northern blocking. Then it looks like mild zonality will build in. Think all these tweets joe laminate floori keeps putting out are just generate more traffic to his new website. The strat cooling is bad news for us i think with the lag affect we could be seeing a zonal nov-dec. Need the strat to warm or we could be looking at another winter like last year.

Yes i agree with what your saying. But it does look as though the strat is going to play a huge role in our coming winter. And as you rightly say lets hope it looks better in the coming weeks. Because at the moment it doesnt look too good for northern blocking to occur for our winter months. Meaning very little sustained cold. Looks like chio has burst alot of bubbles today.

Well looks like the cold spell next week has been downgraded this morning with the cold further east with the uk missing out. Not a bad thing though in my opnion as we dont want the cold peaking too soon. Guess we have to see if things change. But to my untrained eye it doesnt look as cold as it could of done for us later next week. -
Well brian gaze saying we may need a sledge for halloween instead of a broomstick. Piers corbyn saying end of october cold spell. Then goes on to mention that november will be a rollercoaster of a month. Sounds like intresting times ahead. But im still trying to stop myself from getting too excited regarding snow and cold but must admit it does look good so far. Lets just hope the snow gods shine on us this winter lol.

piers corbyn mention in nov 2010 we would have worst winter in 100yrs now joe laminate floori is saying worst winter in 50yrs so i guess we wont be seeing another dec 2010 if all he is forecasting is worst in 50yrs sounds all very far fetched to me to be honest. Heres hoping for a mild xmas so at least everyone can see freinds and family then a few cold shots jan and feb will do me just fine. Certainley dont fancy a 1947 0r 63 winter at all.

Im not been funny here but it seems to be that the signs for a milder than average winter are once again looking likely or have i got the wrong end of the stick? -

Im surprised how much faith people seem to have in joe laminate floori. He called the us forecast last winter shockinley wrong. So what chance does he have with us in the uk. Alot seem to think he got the uk correct last year when infact he didnt. He was calling for heavy snow just after xmas which never happened. And i wouldnt buy into his theorys for us this year. My guess would be he is trying to generate some kind of histeria of some sort. I think its still all to play for regarding either cold or mild i think it could be on a knife edge but if i was to lean towards anything i would perhaps say we will see something very similar to last winter with a cold blast late jan early feb with another mild christmas period. Which would suit me fine i.e people can still get about to see freinds and familys safely. So a green xmas please lol -

Yes john what we have to bear in mind is we have had many octobers were we have had a -nao bringing a early chill only for the winter to end up been wet and mild especially in the 90s. Regarding joe laminate floori he is well know for his cold ramps he got the usa forecasts shockingly wrong last year and he seems to be at it for the uk this winter. Well in my opnion i dont buy into it. He is very similar to piers corbyn a cold mini ice age ramper. Yes i want cold and snow just as much as everyone else. Just not getting my hopes up for them to be dashed. All im saying at the moment is we cant discount a mild winter just yet as it could all go horribley wrong in the next month or so. -

I sense a few people on here have set themseleves up for a massive dissapointment it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if we end up with a similar winter to last year. Ive not bought into this rubbish that joe b has been spouting to be honest he is well renound for his ramps. I guess we just have to wait and see but i dont expect a snowmaggedon
