EXACTLY!!!!!! Looking 7 days out is not reliable and can change from run to run

I'd say atleast Jan for anything exciting.
This year is similar to last winter but possibly teleconnections coming together around Jan.
Anyone seeking a re run of 2009/10 winter is really expecting way to much.
Average rainfall and average to above average temps through Nov Dec and start of Jan.
A lot of forecasters would disagree with this statement, including the Met office

This winter is looking abit to normal with tot much snow.
But things are yet to change.
It's not even winter yet!!!!! We still have lots of autumn to get through so things will change. How can you say comments like this when not even the most experienced forecaster can predict this far out

Folks - it's only November 5th - start looking for cold from late November/early December - till then, relax...

Thanks for everyones support re JB incident this morning.I was being a "little ironic".The thing that really did ruin my day yesterday was watching Spurs perform dreadfully at the Lane, but that is another story!!The weather is just a hobby that i have been fascinated for years and i,like everyone else, was just trying to give an opinion that Winter might not start off as a "Coldies paradise".Then again,it might.There is everything to play for and models and other factors may swing back in favour of cold weather coming back for early December.It is not "Negative" one way or the other as some people might not want 3 months of cold and snow.If we got that,i think the country could end up in a right old mess!!
Yes sorry Hotspur61 for the harsh comment this morning, but I would really love a white Christmas this year. I have 2 young children and for them to wake up on Christmas day with snow on the ground would make it very special indeed

Who cares if December is mild? There is January, February and even March. If we get to February and it's 18C I'll start to worry.
I care, when it's cold and snowy during the run up to Christmas it makes the festive season more speacial and snow on Christmas day would be a bonus

Sorry for ruining your day but, it really bugs me and ruins my day when I come on hear in the morning and read negative comments and people writing off the first(and in my eyes most speacial) part of winter When winter has not even started. Sorry if it sounded harsh.

Anyways, I see the strat has taken a sudden downturn but now levelling out and so I don't think that would be a conclusive factor just yet. Plus in previous years it seems to bounce up and down anyways, I can see why people are going with a mild start as there is a fair bit of cooling forecast but I don't really think we can jump the gun yet.Nooooooooooooooooo, if doylem is here I'm off!!!! not listening to his crap again this year. All this talk of winter arriving too early.... Why can't winter arrive early and remain winter until spring? Why do we have to have a cold blast and then, sorry winters over until next year. I think the public are still in the mind set of mild winters, so any cold blast will be short lived. I believe we should start thinking of cold winters starting earlier and ending later and this year being the benchmark for winters to come. A cold start, a cold middle and a cold end and then we all look forward to a warm spring!!!!

Yes john what we have to bear in mind is we have had many octobers were we have had a -nao bringing a early chill only for the winter to end up been wet and mild especially in the 90s. Regarding joe laminate floori he is well know for his cold ramps he got the usa forecasts shockingly wrong last year and he seems to be at it for the uk this winter. Well in my opnion i dont buy into it. He is very similar to piers corbyn a cold mini ice age ramper. Yes i want cold and snow just as much as everyone else. Just not getting my hopes up for them to be dashed. All im saying at the moment is we cant discount a mild winter just yet as it could all go horribley wrong in the next month or so.
Yes but we are in a completely different set up ,( weather wise) than in the 90s so at this stage we can start getting excited, because all the signs are there

I sense a few people on here have set themseleves up for a massive dissapointment it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if we end up with a similar winter to last year. Ive not bought into this rubbish that joe b has been spouting to be honest he is well renound for his ramps. I guess we just have to wait and see but i dont expect a snowmaggedon

Yes I agree that does look very indicative of a Southerly Jet Stream, and also indicative of Northerly blocking, that's a very good update from the CFS for those wanting a cold winter :-)
But still looking average, no major cold, still dissapointing

CFS V2 is going for an average winter rain wise for just about all, the exception been the south east
And for temps......................
