Looking more sleety now
-
temperature is dropping, gone down from 2.9 to 1.4c so i shall see if this rain starts to look more wintery soon.
-
Still rain here, all of our lovely snow people in the garden are getting smaller.
-
places with lying snow.. have the best chance for it to be all snow?
temp 0.6 dew point 0
Well we have lying snow and currently have light rain
-
East wind started up and is now quite breezy and cold out there (feeling) but the temp has shot up to 1.5c. Will have to keep an eye on it to see if it dips this pm. Partner works south of Bristol, took a flask, some mars bars and a sleeping bag, just in case the M5 grinds to a halt going north tonight.
Probably wise of him with so much uncertainty in the forecast, travelling any distance its always best to be prepared.

where are all the central southerners?! i'm working in Farnborough at present, have a meeting in winchester this afternoon until 5pm, then have to get home to bournemouth afterwards.
Am i going to make it?!
Surely what is falling now across the New Forest/Bournemouth/Southampton area is rain is it not?
*edit* - the missus says it is raining heavily in bournemouth.
radar shows rain
-
Looking at radar this band of precipitation seems to be heading in more of a north-easterly direction or is it going to start pivoting? EDIT: I am referring to second more southerly chunk.
Looks to me like its pivoting around. Although above freezing outside the wind really takes the edge off of the temp, quite a bitter easterly

Just ventured into the model thread and came out wishing I hadn't gone in. The wrist slitting has started because of the forecasted less cold spell. Don't people realise that our normal winters consist of cold and mild spells? Prolonged severe cold and snow are very rare events.
-
My main concern is rising pressure. Pressure is rising steadily over the area at the moment and a backing of the winds at cloud level is very noticeable keeping the main band of precipitation over the English Channel moving in a NW and probably later West direction back out to sea. Further East and North may not see much unless other developments through the day translate into something more akin for our area.
I've just ran the animation on the radar and the band seems to go north and then turn nw.
-
I think someone has pressed the default button and its back to drizzly rain.
-
Not sure what happened as I went to bed before the system arrived but there is no change outside and I have the drip drip drip from my roof. temp gone above freezing.
-
Looks intense over a large part of Devon but the front seems to be breaking up as it crosses the border into Somerset.
-
Just been out and its only very light rain... is any off the heavy stuff moving towards me? Cant get my NW radar to work, having a hard job just keeping my PC working at the mo dont know whats wrong...
kaz
I am EX32
There is more precipitation heading your way but currently looks like sleety stuff, could pep up and change though.
-
dam my radar has just gone down.. Any of that PPN likely moving towards Barnstaple ??? or should I just call it a night?
Looking at the radar apparently barnstaple is under sleet/wintery mix?
-
just let the cat out (did her ablutions and ran back in) and the cloud has rolled right over us now. Looking to the west the clouds have a pinky hue.
-
Just let the dogs out and I can see the cloud coming over from the west. Still clear here currently and darn chilly
-
Felt abit chilly so went upstairs to get my jimjams on. Looked out of my bedroom window to see a lovely clear starry sky. Also noticed snow still on the roof of my car. Its been driven out and about the last few days and today I drove on roads at 50-60 mph but the snow still clings on!
-
-
Well the PPN has hit Cornwall.... Guessing it would be rain? Reports anyone?
Netweather extra radar is showing it as rain.
-
Ah just saw this picture, if only for tomorrow aye, and would be good to have Rob back on our screens!! Perhaps i'm being snow greedy by now
P.S This isn't tomorrows forecast chart!!
You hadn't spotted my avatar then! Miss Rob
-
So have things changed again? The forecast on breakfast news had a big lump of snow over somerset for tomorrow, just checked my forecast on Meto site and its light snow for a few hours over night and Netweather has just a light fall. I will be asked for a forecast on the school playground later so need to get it right
-
Still snowing here in street and looks like plenty of showers on the way for the west country.
The snow shower over you has just reached here albeit light at the mo
-
Not sure if its just my elevation that is confusing radar or not but I have been clear of all ppn for about an hour now and still light to moderate snow falling quite strange
Not long now for fresh ramping materials I hope
I've been in the same white area of the radar as you and we've had showers all afternoon of varying intensity, currently very light.

Its amazing the differences in a short distance. Just heard on the local news that Yeovilton only had 2cm whereas we have had more than 10.

We have a mix of sleet and small flakes, its gradually turning more wintery
