The band is quite fragmented so will get rain/sleet/snow in bursts.

I cant access radar at work - how long before it hits the mendips?
Not long, looks like it has reached Wells.
-
On the radar the front end coming into Somerset is showing as snow.
-
Looking at the radar its just edged into Somerset.

Haha!! Amazing!! My firend in Princetown said it won't snow, because he can't smell it. We are a funny old bunch in this part of the country!!
It might seem funny but there is a change in the air before it snows and I can smell snow. I cant describe it at all though. I also know when its going to be a storm as my head hurts and my left shoulder starts aching. If a storm is coming people flee from me as I seem to attract lightening, must be a inherited thing as my gran's gran was killed by lightening.

Just been out across the fields with the dogs, coorrr thats bitter. I was very thankful for my furry trapper hat,I think my ears would have fallen off. I do have very red numb cheeks though and my face feels pretty raw too

Was driving around the green blob in Somerset this morning and all around in the distance I could see white hills. That wind is really making it feel chilly, its 1.6c here but feels colder

Have just got back from Wells........like another world! No Snow!!!!!! Weird.
Head south or west a couple of miles and theres no snow either.

I'm in the 0-4 area. I've been here for 12 winters now and have only seen snow on the ground 08,09,10 and this past week. We only saw the occasional dusting before that if we were lucky.

Just realised your Profile Pic was the picture i posted the other day! Your a fan of Rob then? He should still be broadcasting on our television screens rather than in the backroom
Temperature 0.4c here. We have 10cm of snow left.
Loved Rob, one of my favourite weather presenters. I liked his presenting style and the twinkle in his eye with the cheeky grin at the end of his forecast use to make me smile. I was gutted when his was 'disappeared'.

Morning all, Was really surprised to get a fair bit more snow last night.
Even more surprised when i had to journey from Frome to Glastonbury. Frome had snow on ground, up towards where the Tor works are loads of snow like it had just fallen, so not melted there at all, trees walls everything thickly covered, must of been about 7inches plus up there. Shepton had fair bit to but really odd, soon as i got to Pilton tiny patches then Glastobury compelely snow free, not one blob anywhere and mild. Local weather differentialsaround here are markedly different.
Apparently Bath had a snowmageden so i`m told.
Happens quite often in snowy spells, either the snow misses this area completely or it melts a lot quicker down here. I bet on a satellite image now from south of the mendips there will be a big green blob.
I enjoyed the snow that was here but I'm starting to look for something warmer and drier, I'm most definitely a summer person. I really don't want to face another cool wet summer again and its impact on the insect life. We could do with a warm dry year to aid recovery of the bees and butterflies.

All back to normal now 95% of the snow is melted and we have flooded lanes again.
-
All gone back to being bleugghh here again, grey, cloudy, wet and muddy (apart from a couple of white blobs here and there)

Its also like the saying " How b on", i now know what they mean but in the beginning i thought W.T.H are they on about? Also, they say, "what do you know".
Its funny but you get used to it and makes language diverse i guess. One saying i hate by youngsters is the SO saying.,
I.E I`m SO not happy with this or I`m SO going to ....
What happened to I`m REALLY going to.... or I`m really not happy about this..
I think the SO saying came from the friends serious and now is commonly used in language.
(I`d love to go on the show grumpy old men, lol) Bikes, the saddle is so low and knees over there shoulders, they can`t ride like that and end up standing up not using the saddle at all lol.
Trousers literally below the buttocks, weird?? Now all the boys have girl swept over bieber hair styles, whats going on???
Rant over lol, i am actually a happy go lucky person believe it or not although you wouldn`t think so reading this post
That is just sooo such a great rant

Snowing here all morning but not settling, everything turning back into a muddy mush. Such a waste of good snowfall!
-
It snowed here for hours and hours, in fact its been snowing again this morning but i woke up to less snow cover than I had before it started!
-
West somerset is certainly taking a pounding but could do with some more to come round on east and central areas.
We had hours of heavy snow but it just wouldn't settle, then it finally started settling, we get nearly an inch worth of covering and then it disappears. Watching the radar and running the animation I would say that is it for here tonight bar maybe a flurry or 2.

What do people think about those showers over Poole moving NW?
I've been keeping an eye on that as they are now seemingly heading my direction. I'm currently in the white blob in the middle of the system.
-
Crazy snow here in South Somerset had about 2-3 inches in just under 2 hours, caused gridlock on the local roads and still falling.
Whereabouts in south somerset snowylad? Sorry just like to know whats happening around this area.
-
Finally after over 2 hours of snow its starting to settle!
-
Still to warm here, according to my temp its still 1.5c DP 1c. Still rain sleet mix..
surprised by that Khodds, its 0.5c down here and been snowing since about 2.30-2.45 ish
-
If this snow would have settled we would have been buried by now, seems such a waste to melt on impact.
-
Really heavy snow here, gert big flakes. Not really settling though

Definitely hoping for a drier and warmer 2013. Although grass growth was good, crops were bad and we had to keep bringing cattle in because they were churning the fields up. Poor for wildlife and my hobbies of wildlife photography, butterfly hunting and bike riding.
