Can you make Spurs win, with any of those mysterious devices, B?
I wish I had that power!

You sound like my dad! Have tried to show him the array of features on my new Xperia Z but he's not that interested.
If anything I use my phone less for calling and texting and more as a tablet to access the internet, apps etc on the move.
You calling me old? My husband has a Samsung galaxy and my son has a xperia and i can see why they can be useful. I just don't need one as I do all internet stuff on the laptop.

i have a 5 year old Sony Ericsson K770i that is held together with parcel tape. Its suffered a lot of abuse and a couple of pixels have died but it lives on. I don't want a smart phone, just something to call and text. My first phone was a Nokia I bought second hand from my brother in 98/99. I remember my husband bringing home a new work phone with the ability to send text messages and i thought it was brilliant!

First butterfly of the year for me today, a pristine Comma. Took a photo but haven't uploaded it yet.

Glorious day Was chilly this morning when I went out with the dogs, the cold breeze made my ears hurt but this afternoon the breeze lessened and the sun was warmer. I went off for a wander around the back of the woods and around by the lake where it is sheltered and saw my first butterfly of the year, a pristine Comma and managed to get 1 photo. I soaked up the sun's rays and my vitamin D and happiness levels went up. I even got 2 loads of washing dry on the line. Now I want plenty more of the same!

A few flakes in the air when I went out just before 7am. Now the sun is trying to make an appearance.
-
Looking out of my kitchen window the sky looks pretty dark to my NE.
-
Snow showers on and off for the last couple of hours and now the sun has made an appearance. Cor that wind just cuts right through you.

Britain has imported food for thousands of years, yes thousands, because of our poor climate.
We are living on a tiny little island and have always relied on imports. Approximately 40% of our food is imported.
Do some reading.
Yes lets import all of our food because if we cannot get things growing it will be alot more than 40%, don't worry about the businesses in this country, lets create more unemployment. As for your 'do some reading' comment, I found that very patronising. As its our livelihood I am all too aware of the business of food production.

I don't know why all the fuss about farmers and wildlife, and people that work outside, as the planet and people have managed for thousands of years in much worse conditions.
If you work outside then the weather is an occupational hazzard that comes with the job, and if you don't like the weather, then get an office job.
Nobody has mentioned poor people that can't afford heating though, but who cares as long as animals and plants are ok.
Rant over!
So if we all went indoors in a nice warm office, where is all of your food going to come from? It needs to warm up now so the grass can grow to feed the cows and sheep, plants and trees to blossom to be pollinated by bees so you can get your fruit and veg etc etc
yes nature and people have survived for thousands of years but we have a rather large population to feed now. I have mentioned several times over the months about how the cold costs the poor and vulnerable although not on this thread.
Its this 'I'm all right jack' mentality and lack of empathy that riles people.

Whereabouts were you walking? Stunning area for walking and the views are exceptional.
Broadchalke/Fifield Bavant area

If anyone mentions the D word this year I am likely to commit murder after the weather we had to put up with last year.

Blue skies and sunshine and the temps have reached the dizzy heights of 7.1c but still chilly out in the wind. I went to visit my parents yesterday and that was seriously cold walking on the west wilts downs. Seemed daft being wrapped up with hats, gloves etc in April. Our daffodils in the garden had been in bud for a few weeks but showing no sign of opening up, the old man picked some yesterday and put them in a vase and within a couple of hours they were out in full flower.

It looks stunning outside, blue skies and sunshine but its all wasted by the cold air. Looks like the wind will be even colder tomorrow. Might have to jump into Dancing daisy's suitcase.

Sunny spells and dry which is good but temperature is only 4.5c which isn't. Noticed a comment up the page which I think was karlos saying that after next week we can look for spring warmth, I've been looking for the past month I want the air to warm slightly so I get get out on my bike and get rid of the winter padding, currently the cold air hurts my face
-
I went outside earlier with the thought of maybe doing some gardening but lasted about 2 minutes before coming back inside to warm up. Temp 4.2c but feels around freezing.

Although sad for us, I am really pleased for you Stewart as its a well deserved reward and I wish you massive luck in your new role.

We had proper snow here just before it got dark but didn't settle.

Ha, UK's own Punxsutawney Phil!
When I come out of hibernation I shall predict a glorious summer and hope that I can forecast better than Phil because Phil's predictions have been correct only 39% of the time

Met Office cold weather alert service extended for an addition two weeks..
I'm going back into hibernation, wake me up when its warm and sunny. I've got enough fat reserves to keep me going for a while. We have had light flurries on and off since just after 3pm.

Well on friday I will be that much further east and north as I'm visiting my grandparents up in Castle Cary, so I may not be so lucky then haha but as for this current batch of showers, hopefully it will continue its pivot southwestwards! I think the shower activity is being aided by a very weak cold front just off the south coast, which has shown up on the most recent fax chart analysis for today. And no problem mate
Castle Cary and the surrounding area only does 1 snow event each winter if we are lucky and we had ours in January
-
Well the sun disappeared quite rapidly and we defaulted back to grey cloudy nothingness. No wintery precipitation here and the air is very dry with humidity being only 50%. I have found today far more comfortable to be outside, in comparison with previous days now the wind has eased.

personally i dont see the point of looking for cold for the sake of it...i understand the liking for snow, but if we cant have snow...and thats unlikely, then why bother?. spring warmth is imho the most wonderful of events, the scents, smells, birdsong, fresh new growth, isnt that preferable to this current nothingness? bitter, largely snowless, often overcast. that belongs in winter, not spring.
secondly, nope, summer isnt winter in reverse, very few are actively seeking and ramping heat the way they do in winter. forum numbers drop to next to nothing sometimes. there are no hot counterparts to nick sussex, teits, s murr, etc. id suggest theres a 90% drop in posts, its much better because there is hardly any ramping, hardly any 'spot the hot evolution', nothing like there is in winter . and theres a variety of reasons why and what people look for. from cooler weather, drier weather, hot weather, thundery weather, all have there followers unlike winter when you are an outcast if you dont look for cold.
It is true that during the rest of the year there is no ramping of a particular weather type and generally through the spring/summer months the board is an awful lot quieter. I enjoy it then as I can read proper analysis of the charts without the bias and toy throwing.
