There could be trouble ahead...and so the......
BFTP
wonder what area would get the strongest winds it this was to happen
-
what winds would I expect for my area if the ecm was to verify?
-
Well this ECM chart would certainly ruin a few Christmas celebrations for many people! Some cold turkeys sitting around with no electric... Reminds me of boxing day 1998
It's been a while since the outlook has been so disturbed with many potential severe wind events. Interesting times!!
how much would it affect the south would there be much wind here if this was to happen ?
.
-
what is a pub run?
-
It remains very unsettled on Christmas eve with some severe gales for some
A closer look at that low
would that low have any affect on the southern areas?

Big Joe B, just tweeted. (Stratosperic warming event starting in Asia. Precursor to blocking in the longer term.)
what does that mean for uk? don't really understand blocking and stratospheric warming
-
GFS in chucking us a random superstorm shocker
it showed that earlier too, crazy
-
i know this is way into FI but I presume it would be extremely windy if this was to happen?
-
I don't mind this spell at the moment least it's sort of mild, but i do love storms
-
Could be an exciting time coming up for storm lovers! After the rather boring spell we are entering this week! lol
i hope!

Shoreham flooded, my brother goes to college at airport and had to come home because of the water
-
the surge in that video so strong, must of been scary to be caught up in it
-
How comes there is flood warning for Hampshire/Sussex areas?
-
at least the winds have died down, if the surge hit with the strong winds like earlier it could have been worse
-
cyclones & low pressure system can sometime create meteotsunami not sure if that would happen though. anyways is the storm moving fast of slow & where is it's location now?
-
I just hope the surge and flooding causes no fatalities, probably one of the worst way to die is drowning in violent water
-
GEM is not interested in any cold infact it becomes very mild +14 850's for some with +12 widely at the end before that we have +8's widely
What a nice chart, wish it would happen

ECM showing less cold air coming in as early as Sunday now continued signal for high pressure to dominate our weather for a while once it moves in on either Friday or Saturday
would that be mildish or cold high pressure? I get confused with these charts sometimes

No real meteorological word yet Steve, many seemed to have died in flash floods:
This was posted in the convective thread earlier:
A bow echo???
maybe a Derecho

Hello, wasn't sure if this will be any interest to anyone but though I'd might post it. I have big interest in weather and tsunamis so personally was very interested when I found out this, I hope it not off topic
"Folkestone (Kent) and Brighton (Sussex), 20 July 1929 — large tsunami-like wave struck the Kent and Sussex coasts, busy with tourists, and drowned two people, at Brighton and Worthing the wave was accompanied by sudden downpours of rain and high winds, but at Folkestone and Hastings, where one person drowned at each, the weather was clear and the unexpected wave was estimated to be c. 3.5 and 6 m high, respectively. Douglas (1929) suggests the wave was caused by a squall-line travelling up the English Channel, coincident with thunderstorms, and so may be referred to as a meteotsunami."

I know this is way way out and most defiantly will change & probably won't happen but if it did & went through us would that mean another wind storm? just curious
-
those charts feel me with dread lol
-
maybe because not all of use like cold few just prefer mild
Just a quick question Summer Sun, why do you only post things on this thread and the model thread that are in favour of a mild solution for this coming winter? Only asking a question so don't take it the wrong way.
