  1. video of the flight over the eruption area http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28977773
  2. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 2m Scientists say this activity in/near #Bardarbunga may last years like Krafla eruptions did in 1975-84.
  3. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 7m More earthquakes near #Bardarbunga over the past two weeks than in all of #Iceland last year #ashtag
  4. few pics I found of the eruption this from Cambridge uni team where the eruption is and sensors they have placed
  5. Jón Frímann â€@jonfr500 1h Eruption fissure is now around 1 km long. Source Almannavarnir.. @eruptionsblog

  7. if that fissure goes for the glacier then there is gonna be some almighty explosive stuff that will come from this with the ice melt and possibly a 20km fountain of lava mixing with it.
  8. video showing how the dyke has progressed throughout this http://www.youreporter.it/embed/6536af5283134d59c17214a34dcac81a&autoplay=1
  9. Americas answer to everything Watts Up With That â€@wattsupwiththat 18m Should we bomb Iceland’s Bárðarbunga volcano? http://wp.me/p7y4l-tXE
  10. I would think they will be updated before 3 o'clock as they have a situation room sort of thing set up now due to the fracturing and depressions being found as that's the first signs we have seen that something is happening and magma may be coming closer to the surface now.
  11. Univ. of Iceland â€@uni_iceland 6m No obvious signs of volcanic eruption yet (no harmonic waves or earthquakes that point to an ongoing eruption) #Bardarbunga More info 2MRW Univ. of Iceland â€@uni_iceland 10m 30-40 million m3 of ice melted when the sinkholes formed. Water might have flowed into #Grimsvotn Another surveillance flight 2MRW morning picture showing position of depressions
  12. which one is going to go or maybe all three? Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 6m Dept of cauldrons is around 10-15m - the cauldrons form a 4-6km long “crack†- SE of #Bardarbunga caldera - water would go to Grimsvotn
  13. look at the pic I posted further up the page its opened more than that now
  14. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 1m From @Vedurstofan - here are the coordinates of the 4 cauldrons - 64°33,2N 17°21,8V 64°33,8N 17°23,5V 64°34,2N 17°24,4V 64°34,6N 17°25,7V
  15. seems they aren't picking anything up on sensors just now so they are unsure what is going on it could just be a big injection of magma into the area which is causing the melting its just a watch and see game just now.
  16. defo one to watch here with possible eruption at bardurbunga caldera and cracks appearing over the dyke if bardarbunga was to go it could rip open the fissure and even split askja open as well if the fissure makes it that far.
  17. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 6m Right now only signs of an #eruption in #Bardarbunga is the indentations in the glacier. May only be a small amount of magma causing melt.
  18. mbl.is â€@mblfrettir 6m An eruption either happened or is currently underway - http://www.mbl.is/frettir/innlent/2014/08/27/an_eruption_either_happened_or_is_underway/ … #Bardarbunga Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 9m Scientists see substantial indentations/melting at #Bardarbunga caldera - sign that massive heat is melting the ice #ashtag Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 7m Eruption under the #Bardarbunga caldera would take a few hours to melt the ice. Hence hard to tell if it is still ongoing #ashtag
  19. no its on my previous post on the last page its the same place but the crack has opened more it might be because the ground has started to crack and open so less stress in the area
  20. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 3m 6km long cracks discovered north of #Bardarbunga and into #Dyngjujokull during areal recon flight tonight #ashtag
  21. Gisli Olafsson â€@gislio 9m Photo from @uni_iceland showing new cracks in Holuhraun lava field above main activity pic.twitter.com/SydZ5slkVZ #Bardarbunga
  22. don't take too much notice of the steam there will always be steam in Iceland due to its geothermal nature after all its the natural steam that the icelandics use to power there country they harness the geothermal energy through it and turn it into electricity at steam turbine plants so it is entirely normal here especially with the latent heat under the ground and this doesn't mean an eruption. also the streams looking a bit more full you have to remember its still summer up there and they are still seeing snow melt etc so it could very well be this and if there was something significant happening that would look more like a raging torrent 20-100ft deep so a little extra water means nothing for a sign of an eruption you would be looking for a massive outflow from the glacier.
  23. watch the melting at the top right as well that's where the dyke is I wish the camera was able to turn around so we could see the area where the dyke has progressed to
