  7. I do think there is evidence for warming, which will make upper atmosphere more dynamic and harder to predict, Extremes are starting to happen, Weather synoptics will still at times bring in cold and in my opinion extreme cold as likely as all other weather extremes, The UK always will be influenced by Atlantic, nothing new in that, Over last few years weather records are being broken, We may not get any decent cold spell nation wide this winter, but the chances are there,if synoptics fall into place, and chances of extremes are there
  8. Snow for Christmas is rare. That what makes it special and the icing on the cake for Christmas, Once the holidays over. we have the long winter months to get through, For me that is the time I like to see some snowy weather to break up the long haul to spring

  13. I suppose the main question is,,,,,Are we starting to see changes to more extreme weather patterns or is everything still within historical norms, There is some signs that this maybe happening, Lets hope for cold spell to develope in January and put theory to test, Well is Christmas, so ok to bring the old chestnuts out,,,,,,,,,,,,
  14. Dry,cloudy mild morning, Deer out on back field. River seems gone down little, We have community farm for people with learning disabilities, They worked very hard preparing allotment for winter, The area is awfull mess at moment,Still plenty time to recover and get ready for spring, They sell really freash veg which help there funds. They have nice community with chickens, rabbits, ducks, donkeys, horses, goat etc, Just hope can get some dry weather so they can get back on track,

  16. Fully agree, That is why the exceptional winters of past are remembered, And even the big ones were not winter long events, I just look on cold spells being break from our norm
  17. Getting old now, but my experience of earlier years was that from very end December through Jan Feb the prime time for cold, The big winters of past seem fall into that pattern, The 2010 cold seemed to me very early, Suppose it what we have experienced in our life times,,,,,,,

  22. Lets all be positive,,,,,Just think how lucky we are to be avoiding cold frosty mornings, scrapping ice off windscreens, late night lamp post watching, kids out building snowman, weather forecasters saying "no end insight to deep freeze" Blue sky crisp frosty days, We are so lucky, [ depressed myself now]
