  1. Whilst I am relieved to have finally seen some frost and colder temps, this by no means can truly be defined as a bone chilling cold spell (being an ex-Londoner I can remember the winters of 1987 and 1991, which were absolute corkers). It is and has been anything but. However, I cling to the hope offered by Ian Ferguson that February might offer us something more fruitful, and am hoping that some in the SW will see some decent snowfall late Jan/into February (living here right on the coast, one accepts that the chances of seeing anything white fall from the sky are always on the slim side). I will give myself a couple of days off from the model watching and then start again next week, as bizarrely the last week has been emotionally exhausting
  2. Surprised and very happy with the snow we had here today. Satisfied for the rest of the winter now!
  3. I am confident, a 100% confident; that we will not see a single flake of snow here in Poole.
  4. Agree with others that there really is nothing exceptional about this cold spell. Pretty average fayre. However, it is a lovely day out there today and it's great to see the Sun again.
  5. Lovely hail shower in Verwood earlier today; and some wet snow here in Poole a little while ago.
  6. I'm grateful for the sleet we had here earlier at around 4pm. Things will hopefully take a turn for a better (i.e. much colder) during the first week of Feb.
  7. For all the recent optimism and excitement on the model thread; this 'cold 'spell' really isn't that bad (at least, not in this region of the country) which is why my expectation levels were always low. Amongst all the pant wetting over on the model thread; the only individuals of whom I look for are Mr Fergusson and Nick Sussex. Two voices of reason and sound analysis.
  8. I'd happily bank a few ice cold days and frosts for the tail end of this week to the middle of next week. Happy Christmas mate and to everyone on here.
  9. We've got friends over on Brownsea Island who live in a Cottage right on the Quay side. They're away at the moment but surely their place is flooded?. Hope to God it isn't.
  10. Tamara has maintained the possibility of a cold spell. Maybe around the second week of February.
  11. We live in Upper Parkstone, Poole. We have friends who live in a small cottage by the Quay side on Brownsea Island. I've given them the heads up on this one but they're really not taking it seriously.
  12. I just want the warmth to arrive, to be honest. Looks like we've got some cold weather stilll for a while yet but I really hope it arrives soon.
  13. Looks like another non-snow event this weekend. Had enough of this now and just want it to warm up and actually have some sunlight for a change.
  14. Sounds and looks like a great day for those cold lovers based on the Channel Islands
  15. Potentially another cold to very cold spell possibly arriving during the course of next week. Fingers crossed.
  16. Happy with the snowfall we had on the 18 Jan but it would be great to see one more event before the winter's finished. Would be a brucie bonus.
