  1. Heading back to a warm Czechia this morning for 10 days or so, it’s a very gloomy start at Heathrow and feeling chilly
  2. MP-R Yeah, I do remember quite a long run of fairly sunny days but it only reached around 21°C each day, which to me isn’t overly warm in August. Though with my memory at the moment, I could be mixing years up
  3. Lucked out today in west London, plenty of blue sky and sunshine and a pleasant 19°C, despite that wind
  4. *Stormforce~beka* it’s always blowing a hurricane these days. Both here and in Central Europe. Just the direction changes. Of course, if 30°C is breached, the omnipresent wind magically disappears
  5. Frigid I remember August 2009 well. It was often sunny but I felt cold almost of the time
  6. A nice sunny start in west London, looking at the satellite I could be in a sweet spot today with a slice of clear skies over CS, SE and E England. 18°C will feel very pleasant if that wind doesn’t get up too much
  7. In Absence of True Seasons That forecast is already wrong Loads of cloud has bubbled up, and with that strong breeze, it doesn’t feel warm. Summer8906
  8. A lovely sunny start in west London. Let’s see how long it lasts…
  9. After earlier deluges it’s actually quite sunny now in west London. But a poor 11°C
  10. Rancid cold and wet day in west London, still chucking it down now. Made worse knowing at home in Czechia it was 21°C and sunny, grr
  11. richie3846 Yes, damaging late frosts are happening a lot recently in C Europe. They have a huge impact. It’s been a bit crazy temperature-wise over the last 3 weeks, got up to 28°C 2 weeks ago and then the last week-10 days has been absolutely baltic. English wine is getting a lot of interest and there are some excellent wines on offer. Quite a few vineyards are being established and French champagne growers are buying up land in SE England, apparently
  12. Alderc 2.0 That’s really bad luck mate, hope you’re comfortable and not in too much pain. These things can heal quicker than expected so fingers crossed this summer isn’t a complete write-off for you
  13. More cloud and feeling chilly yet again in west London, I’ve gone down with a yucky cold to add to the joy. Another frost in Czechia, apparently lots of fruit crops damaged, especially apples and grapes for wine. Late SSWs can do one
  14. Frigid Yes, it’s been a long, dreary slog. I’m not after April heatwaves either, a pleasant 16°C with predominantly sunny conditions and some traditional showers would suit me fine.
  15. *Stormforce~beka* I think many of us true weather enthusiasts are screwed, sadly
  16. raz.org.rain Same in winter. What a miserable climate, no one is happy, be they coldies or warmies
  17. 12°C and drizzling in west London. The foulness continues
  18. Arch Stanton It’s absolutely disgusting. How they can get away with it is beyond me.
  19. The wind is definitely vile. Way too cold. The sun actually has a fair bit of strength now, when it’s out it does feel lovely out of the foul wind, but there’s not enough sunshine, unfortunately. Currently a rather pathetic 10°C in west London and grey.
  20. Perfect summer - 3 months of around 23-27°C every day, above average sunshine throughout, frequent thunderstorms and the occasional heavy frontal rainfall event. Of course, it won’t happen
  21. CryoraptorA303 I planted some fruit trees last year in Czechia and some have baby fruit on them this spring, hopefully they won’t get frozen off. Apricots and greengages, so far. This April has certainly felt warmer than last year, but the last week has dramatically changed that and in west London, I think April 2023 was sunnier. Next week looks better, thankfully, though a real rollercoaster temperature-wise in Czechia
  22. Felt chilly in west London today, but it’s worse in Czechia. They had graupel and light snow showers today in cold air. A widespread frost tonight, too. Not pleasant and bad for the fruit trees
  23. danm Agree. What’s more annoying is these synoptics in winter would’ve been very seasonal and possibly snowy for many. Instead, we half freeze to death in spring. At least the sun was out today, it’s certainly increasing in strength now
  24. danm Very nice to see the sunshine, shame about the vile, freezing Siberian ‘breeze’
