  1. Yet more rain here overnight, the ground is totally sodden. Temperatures way above average, too. Not been much sunshine which makes it all very depressing, but today might actually see some blue sky. Yippee
  2. Another dreary, boring February shaping up here. It used to be a winter month, but now? Yet more cloudy, damp, and mild rubbish.
  3. East Lancs Rain Neither would be ideal, though as summer is most important to me then maybe the latter. Though ideally, marked seasons are best
  4. In Absence of True Seasons Yucky period of weather in Central Europe too, loads of cloud and rain and unseasonably mild, too. Flood warnings again. Just horrible. Thank goodness we actually get proper summers here
  5. cheese I agree that maritime climates like the UK are boring/dreary in general. We used to get much more variety though. I’m not talking about extremes, more a ‘day-to-day’ sense. Long periods of the same weather type were usually less common and there was more variability. The current lack of snow I understand, as our climate warms. But where have all the summer thunderstorms gone? Days of decent convection interspersed with sunshine used to occur frequently in all seasons. It used to be the case that if you didn’t like a particular weather type, you just had to wait a few days. That’s just an observation from my 40 years of weather-watching, though. Others may disagree
  6. *Stormforce~beka* really hope not. I’m not a fan of extreme heat but I’d love as much sunshine as possible this summer (as always)
  7. Atleastitwillbemild Completely agree. The UK climate used to be known for its changeable nature, now it’s just months of damp, windy gloom interspersed with a few dry weeks here and there. It might have become a bit warmer but the awful general lack of sunshine is just as bad as ever.
  8. raz.org.rain I’m all for Spanish plumes in the right seasons. Especially if they deliver some decent thunderstorms, like they used to in the 80’s-90’s. Not really keen on seeing plumes in February.
  9. East Lancs Rain It’s mild at the moment, but unfortunately not the pleasant, sunny mild, it’s cloudy, damp and windy mild. Seems to be more common here in winter in recent years, all very dreary and unseasonal. Hopefully something more exciting coming along soon
  10. A windy, mild and mainly cloudy day here, at least it was dry so I could enjoy a long walk. But all a bit dreary, hopefully February won’t be like this all month
  11. SunSean Yes, charts for the next 7 days or so look very dreary, unless you like grey skies and wind
  12. raz.org.rain January is usually by far the longest month of the year for me.. So the fact that it’s already over is quite a surprise. There was a bit of wintry weather earlier in the month and some very pleasant sunshine and frosts. Interested to see what February holds
  13. CryoraptorA303 January has been much sunnier than woeful December, thankfully. Looks like it might have been sunnier than average, too, with a whopping 27% of total available daylight actually sunny. How spoilt are we
  14. In Absence of True Seasons Sounds nice. Here in Czechia it’s vile this morning, overcast and chucking it down, feeling chilly at 4°C
  15. I like seeing warmer temperatures begin to show in April. I also like traditional April showers which seem quite rare, these days. As for things cooling off, the end of October feels about right for that
  16. January has flown by for me. Normally it’s such a slog to get through but not this year, no idea why Have had plenty of chilly but sunny weather. Unfortunately, the dreary damp gloom is back. Hopefully not for too long
  17. A beautiful few days here with lots of crisp winter sunshine and sharp frosts at night. A very acceptable spell of weather and thankfully a break from the rain. Though as often happens by the end of January, some of my joints are very sore and I’m beginning to crave warmer weather
  18. True, I personally enjoy seasonal weather at the right time of the year. Sadly, the UK doesn’t climate is often the other way round
  19. Disappointing for those of us that enjoy seasonal weather during the whole year. Still time for a decent cold/snowy spell, of course. A month is a long time in meteorology
  20. There was plenty of that last summer! Some people
  21. Snow thawing here in Czechia quite quickly now, as the milder Atlantic air moves in. Not looking particularly wintry for the foreseeable, just like the UK. If it’s going to be mild, please let there be some decent sunny spells, at least
  22. Winter 2013-14, vile and my hometown suffered major flooding. Summer 2007 and 2012 were also mostly hideous. Never want a repeat of any of them
  23. Beautiful and sunny but bitterly cold morning here in Czechia, down to -8°C overnight, currently -4°C with some laying snow. Looks like the Atlantic crap will push in this week here too, with mild temperatures, wind and rain
  24. -5°C in London this morning, doesn’t happen very often
  25. It’s a very thin wall of snow, in fact in northern France it’s been mainly rain with any snow further east over Benelux. Interesting sharp temperature gradients though
