  1. Yes, satellite image is great, the reality on the ground is a dreary grey sky and a strong breeze Maybe a squall line will develop?
  2. Good if you have a log burner! Is ash die-back bad in your part of the UK? I’ve hardly seen any in west London or Czechia
  3. Have the same feeling. While a good storm can be exciting, I hope it doesn’t happen until the trees have lost at least most of their leaves. The UK can ill-afford to lose trees. And flooding isn’t welcome, either.
  4. Nice day with temperatures reaching a very pleasant 23°C
  5. Most years aren’t particularly great for sunshine unfortunately, but that’s the UK climate Such a tonic to get a nice sunny spell of weather in any season, hopefully autumn will bring this, with some seasonal mists and fog. Though I have a feeling it’s going to be a stormy one
  6. Definitely, if you live in a big city. Much nicer in the outer suburbs or in the country
  7. The usual vile infill doing it’s thing, not allowed to have blue skies for any length of time
  8. It was nearly dark here at 7pm last night, which I’m definitely not a fan of. Much worse in December-January though. Don’t mind the later sunrises so much. I do like autumn for its mellow light, the tree colours, atmospheric mists and fog, the first frosts, can be quite thundery, too. Hopefully it’s a sunny one and not endless grey clag
  9. Yes mate, got home last night after a working block in the UK Glad it’s a nice autumn morning there, the sun is trying to come out here. Was glad to get some rain last night and next week looks lovely, sunny and warm
  10. Quite cloudy and cool this morning, currently 17°C, had a good dollop of useful rain later yesterday evening
  11. Yes, and the vast majority of hot spells last for a few days, not 6-7 months like the typical damp chill experienced from October-April. Some people might not think 10°C is cold, but if you live in one of these properties, the combination of damp and chill is a killer for that length of time.
  12. Foul grey infill has spoilt the previously beautifully blue sky here, unfortunately
  13. Lovely sunny and fresh morning in west London, currently 13°C with light winds.
  14. Some great convection today, heard some thunder earlier. I do like convective clouds, as long as there’s sunshine too. The frosty mornings and cold sunny days will happen hopefully a bit later in autumn. Really hope it’s not going to be constant grey muck
  15. That’s quite a massive total. Hopefully no flooding issues where you are? There were some in the London area. I like dramatic fronts like last night’s, proper autumnal weather. The clag is clearing now allowing sunshine and thundery showers
  16. Had some torrential rain here in west London yesterday evening which was quite exciting. Now back to lots of boring grey muck and bits of drizzle, and feeling cool at 17°C.
  17. Agree, today has been unpleasant in that vile wind, am in jeans and hoodie and still feeling the chill. Next week looking much more pleasant
  18. An autumnal feel here this morning with that unpleasant wind, feeling quite mild at 17°C but lots of cloud
  19. Thank you for acknowledging this The next 6 months will be a tough time for many of us. It’s more about light levels than cold for me, but we might be lucky and have a cold, snowy winter with lots of crisp sunshine, here’s hoping
  20. I’d love an American autumn, it’s warm well into October and then it rapidly starts getting colder, allowing the beautiful leaf colours. We occasionally get lucky here in autumn with crisp, sunny, cold weather but most of my memories are also of rancid, smelly, soggy piles of rotting vegetation with loads of wind and rain
  21. It’s crazy windy! Looks like tomorrow might be as bad or worse. Bit early for that malarkey
  22. It’s the clock changes for me. Probably a bit illogical but I like warm weather to start appearing once we reach late March, and colder weather once we reach late October. Between April-October, I like as much sunny and warm weather as possible, between November and March I’m ok with cold as long as it’s not too grey.
  23. I think the largely horrible spring and then the entirety of ‘high summer’ being trough dominated has contributed to this. Otherwise, a cool-down to something more seasonal might have been more welcome? Mind you, September isn’t usually a cool month generally, especially in the south. I’ve very much enjoyed this September, am hoping that October has some nice sunny weather too but with some more seasonal mists, fog, and toward the end of the month, frosts.
  24. Very loud thunderstorm overnight, some beautiful pink and blue lightning. Yucky now, windy, grey and drizzly, 18°C currently
