  1. That’s quite a massive total. Hopefully no flooding issues where you are? There were some in the London area. I like dramatic fronts like last night’s, proper autumnal weather. The clag is clearing now allowing sunshine and thundery showers
  2. Had some torrential rain here in west London yesterday evening which was quite exciting. Now back to lots of boring grey muck and bits of drizzle, and feeling cool at 17°C.
  3. Agree, today has been unpleasant in that vile wind, am in jeans and hoodie and still feeling the chill. Next week looking much more pleasant
  4. An autumnal feel here this morning with that unpleasant wind, feeling quite mild at 17°C but lots of cloud
  5. Thank you for acknowledging this The next 6 months will be a tough time for many of us. It’s more about light levels than cold for me, but we might be lucky and have a cold, snowy winter with lots of crisp sunshine, here’s hoping
  6. I’d love an American autumn, it’s warm well into October and then it rapidly starts getting colder, allowing the beautiful leaf colours. We occasionally get lucky here in autumn with crisp, sunny, cold weather but most of my memories are also of rancid, smelly, soggy piles of rotting vegetation with loads of wind and rain
  7. It’s crazy windy! Looks like tomorrow might be as bad or worse. Bit early for that malarkey
  8. It’s the clock changes for me. Probably a bit illogical but I like warm weather to start appearing once we reach late March, and colder weather once we reach late October. Between April-October, I like as much sunny and warm weather as possible, between November and March I’m ok with cold as long as it’s not too grey.
  9. I think the largely horrible spring and then the entirety of ‘high summer’ being trough dominated has contributed to this. Otherwise, a cool-down to something more seasonal might have been more welcome? Mind you, September isn’t usually a cool month generally, especially in the south. I’ve very much enjoyed this September, am hoping that October has some nice sunny weather too but with some more seasonal mists, fog, and toward the end of the month, frosts.
  10. Very loud thunderstorm overnight, some beautiful pink and blue lightning. Yucky now, windy, grey and drizzly, 18°C currently
  11. No thunderstorms here so far, just a spell of quite heavy rain.
  12. Looks like more storms are building, could be an interesting day. Fingers crossed
  13. Not long to go until nights are longer than days SAD doesn’t usually hit me badly until January. Let’s hope it’s a sunny (and cold) winter! Looks like something is trying to grow here, still warm at 25°C
  14. Thanks mate I do like many things about all the seasons, but winter is my least favourite, mainly due to low levels of sunlight. Otherwise, there can be a lot of potentially interesting and at times exciting weather to enjoy. Hope winter is all you hope it to be
  15. Makes sense to me Anyway, hope all’s well with you
  16. Yes, when snow turns to ice it basically makes most elderly people housebound, plus struggle with keeping warm/staying alive. Always someone affected by more extreme weather
  17. I’m glad you didn’t take my comment too seriously (unlike some ), just an attempt at humour. I totally get what you’re saying, it’s unfortunately unrealistic to expect major extremes for any length of time, especially more recently in winter. I hope you get some exciting and enjoyable weather this coming autumn and winter. It sounds like we both like the cold, sunny days so bring them on, please
  18. Cold doesn’t bother me too much, as long as we get lots of sunshine and some interesting weather. It always makes me chuckle when everyone that seems to love 12°C and damp, grey Atlantic grot in summer suddenly find the same conditions a disaster in winter. Think you’ll need a thick skin posting on here over the next 7 months
  19. Cloud starting to encroach here but still lovely and warm, 27°C currently. Looks like a bit of convective activity trying to build to the E
  20. Will try! Looks like the clag may reach here later so going out now to get a vitamin D top-up.
  21. Yes we’re lucky this time, July was different when the fronts just seemed to stall over us while a few hundred miles to the south it was often warm and beautifully sunny. Very frustrating, am not a fan of slow-moving fronts in general (unless it’s snowing lol)
  22. Yes I dislike that, too. Can’t beat those cold sunny days and foggy, frosty nights, love them. Atlantic wind and rain definitely gets old quite quickly, don’t mind short spells of it but it often goes on and on for weeks/months
  23. Must be frustrating for you, totally get it. The SE often does well in these synoptics. Hopefully the sunshine will hang on all day and some will appear your way Agree!
  24. Only a matter of time. Have done pretty well so far, makes up a bit for that yucky July
  25. Looks like SE is best today, beautiful so far
