  1. Beauty of a day in London, clear blue skies, sunny and just 3°C.
  2. Arrived in London for work and it’s a beauty of a winter’s day, blue skies, sunshine and cold at 3°C. No complaints
  3. Nice dusting of snow here this morning, and the sun is making an appearance -1°C. Have noticed the ducks pairing off for several weeks now, signs of an early spring?
  4. It’s not the most pleasant weather type, bad enough in winter, foul in summer. ‘Usable’ though, compared to the usual wind and lashing rain. Gloomy here in Czechia too, we’ve lost the lovely sunshine, unfortunately and air quality has deteriorated. At least the wind has calmed but everything is still frozen so I can’t do any work in the garden.
  5. Another beauty of a day here in Czechia, reached the dizzy heights of 0°C with lovely sunny skies. The sodden ground is starting to dry up a bit at last and river levels are going down after the flooding
  6. Yes. The Thames and many other rivers have burst their banks in a number of places, threatening homes and businesses with flooding and the soil is saturated in much of Britain. No more wind and rain for a while, please
  7. Sunny but freezing here in Czechia, currently -4°C. Much preferable to the near constant wind and rain of the last few months, good excuse to get the log burner going
  8. Shows how wet 2023 was, and early 2024 keeping that going. Average annual sunshine isn’t anything great in the UK, when as a country average, 65% of available daylight is cloudy. It’s why I’ll always hope for above average sunshine here. Meanwhile, a Baltic -7°C here in Czechia at the moment
  9. Another grim day here with rain this morning. It did ease off but remained gloomy and damp, with a chill in the air. Could really do with some drier and clearer air now, the SAD is really kicking in
  10. Actually sunny here today! Did some gardening yesterday while the weather is mild but of course, as soon as I got stuck in, the heavens opened. So bored of rain. Looks like a significant change to much colder weather from Sunday, but only limited potential for snow. -4°C maximum on Monday, will certainly feel like winter
  11. Horrible weather here in central Europe, mild, yet more rain rain rain and today, more wind. Feels like southern England. At least December saw some snow and a couple of brief colder spells but this is just grim.
  12. No sun here, just more grey skies and wind, wind, wind. Bored.com
  13. Interesting weather here, started snowing on Friday evening, despite forecasts of 9°C. There was a covering all day yesterday but very slushy, slippery and unpleasant and as the day wore on, it turned to rain. Still raining this morning with no snow but the mountains have loads. 10°C forecast for today and 11°C tomorrow, so not the best Christmas, weather-wise. Still waiting for a sunny, cold high pressure to be able to enjoy walks, etc.
  14. Dramatic weather here last night with a nasty thunderstorm passing through, some of the lightning was very bright and I saw some big cg’s. One knocked out power in the whole town for 3 hours, we had no running water, either. Torrential rain and severe wind gusts. This all after the terrible shooting in Prague, it all felt quite scary to be honest. Today is starting off with some blue sky but the wind is ramping up again
  15. Hideous here in Central Europe too, severe wind warnings and it’s chucking it down yet again. A miserable Solstice! But the light slowly begins to return in a few short weeks
  16. Back home in Czechia for Christmas and today is a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and light winds after an early frost. Christmas is looking mild, cloudy, damp and windy, though. Sigh
  17. There are so many different types of cloud, it’s very interesting. Thundery weather often brings some beautiful cloudscapes. I see a lot more in Czechia as the vile grey sheet that pervades the UK climate isn’t quite so prevalent there
  18. You could go up to the northern mountains? Maybe a day trip to Liberec. The border areas should still have some snow but it’s gone very mild everywhere
  19. Weird weather day here. Very mild, fleeting glimpses of the sun, mixed in with mist, patchy fog and intermittent rain showers
  20. As a double allotment holder for some years, I very much remember how challenging it was at times. Our site had mains water taps so we were lucky in that regard. Am not talking about rain though, more sunshine levels which in the UK are generally rather poor Indeed. Winter in southern Britain is especially challenging, a real slog to get through. Vitamin D supplements do help but you can’t beat natural light
  21. Always beggars belief on here when some people moan about ‘too much sunshine’ in the UK. Really. As an average for the country as a whole, over 65% of annual daylight is cloudy. Pretty grim.
  22. There’s been a lack of fog here this autumn and winter (so far) which has been quite disappointing, as I do like cold, foggy spells in winter. The snow has nearly all melted here, was fun while it lasted. Forecast of 10°C and sunny for today which I’m not going to complain about
  23. No doubt many will welcome a drier spell with over 200 flood warnings currently in place. Hopefully something seasonal though, a cold and sunny high with overnight frost and fog would be enjoyable (for me), as can go out and enjoy walks, exercise, etc. Not keen on a mild, gloomy high
  24. I wanted to say I was at the bus stop getting blown, but that sounds a bit wrong
