Very pleasant out in the sunshine, light winds and currently 11C here. Quite happy with this weather, had enough of cold. -

Yep, nothing better than warm sunshine. Snow, etc is fun and magical in its own way but I'm looking forward to the change of season. Could still get a cold wintry spell for quite a few weeks yet though... -

Thats a fair comment. All I'm saying is a few years without a 'decent' snowfall isn't unusual either. Last winter was very mild here and just an endless procession of Atlantic storms but I still witnessed falling snow on 2 separate occasions. It's more the laying snow, for any length of time at least, which is quite rare, especially here. -

Of course I'm speaking for my location. I've always lived in this area apart from 4 years in N Staffordshire in the early-mid 1990's. Even in the good old 1980's there were only a handful of decent snow events here. Other parts of the country may differ but snow certainly is a very occasional experience for this part of the UK. Have to say I'm a bit surprised that Somerset manages a week long cold spell every year with snow though. -

Good post but a week long cold spell with snow is the best the UK can generally manage a couple of times a decade, depending on where you're located and with a lot of luck. Certainly not every year and that has never been the case. 4 years without snow isn't that unusual. -

Excellent post, couldn't agree more. All this desperate chasing of cold at 10 days out isn't going to make it actually happen, as this winter has clearly demonstrated. We do not 'deserve' snow, we live on a mild rainy island where snow will always be an occasional (Scotland and high ground) or rare (everywhere else) exception. Unfortunately, fantasy is always better than reality and people will believe what they want to see and then have a meltdown when it doesn't happen! -

Cold morning but dry here. Off to Los Angeles with work shortly where highs of 25C are forecast, I'll take that gladly! Back on Wednesday when it'll be much milder here hopefully. -

Been snowing quite heavily here too for a few hours now, some big flakes. Nice to see but pointless really as not settling. -

Light snow here but too warm to settle. -

Should still be snow, doubt it will settle though. The temperature here hasn't dropped below freezing for days so all a bit of a waste of time really, unless the snow is heavy enough like Surrey says. -

It's everyone's responsibility though, isn't it? We all drive, heat our homes, use electricity etc. Pumping masses of CO2 into the atmosphere is going to show effects at some point. That's if you believe the whole climate change argument, I'm inclined to. Could all just be part of a natural cycle though. Notably quiet winter here, I'm grateful for the large amounts of sunny cold days and not much wind and rain. Shame about no snow though, maybe next year. -

Haha indeed. What's the betting that is going to happen? Thankfully the decision to emigrate has been made! -

A dusting on roofs, cars but that's about it here, didn't see it fall. Sky looks promising but won't hold my breath lol... -

Snowing on and off all afternoon, some heavier bursts with big flakes but that only lasts a few minutes before going back to light sleety stuff. Still, nice to see if slightly underwhelming. -

Just snowed for all of 2 minutes, small flakes but quite heavy. 2 minutes is better than 0 minutes I suppose! -

Agree. I honestly thought that we'd see a decent snowy spell or two this winter but we have been incredibly unlucky really. Best background signals for some years and I can't remember a winter with so little Atlantic activity and so much high pressure near us. I've very much enjoyed all the many cold sunny days and frosty nights. Still a few weeks to go yet where we could see something interesting and fun, however my interest in wintry weather is now starting to fade as Spring draws closer. This overcast, drizzly 2C vileness is not doing anyone any favours. The phrase "I'm over it" comes to mind and quite honestly, I'm bored. -

Utterly miserable evening weatherwise here, 2C and bouts of drizzle/snizzle. When is the snow coming lol?! -

Frustrating, but in my 30+ years of keen weather watching we have had quite a few easterly flows with nothing more than a few spits of snizzle in the wind. My main issue is the endless gloom, at least with the earlier cold spells there was a lot of crisp sunshine which was lovely! -

Sounds much better than here. Either snow properly or please can we have some crisp sunshine. This endless grey is doing my head in! -

There was a queen wasp fresh out of hibernation buzzing around my kitchen today, that's it, winter is over!
