  1. Not completely true; NE'lies not good in Spring here but by July they usually are not cloudy and can be very pleasantly warm or hot. And what's to 'enjoy' when it's cold and grey in May?
  2. Well the gloom has duly arrived, a nasty cold wind too. Just 9C here currently. No doubt we won't see the sun for another week or so, but it'll be dry. Utter waste of time and very depressing. Hopefully will change soon to something better!
  3. Some very threatening skies this afternoon here, looked like a supercell was forming but got a bit of light rain instead. Only in the UK, the land of apocalyptic skies that deliver........not much.
  4. A beautiful morning soon turned into a vile afternoon of very dark, threatening looking clouds that dropped....drizzle. Only in the UK! Skies like this anywhere else would have people running for a storm cellar lol.....
  5. Gorgeous day here so far, warm sunshine and not much cloud as yet.
  6. Brief heavy shower here. Apart from that skies are overcast, no sun and it feels chilly. Zzzz
  7. Looks promising, Surrey Would be great to see some lightning and get some nice cloudscapes. Just no monotonous grey rubbish that doesn't do anything, please.
  8. Yes lovely sunny skies to start the day, would be great to see a storm later!
  9. Me too. I'm off to Europe next year (Prague). Mind you, it's still far too early to be writing off months ahead. I wouldn't be too bothered about a wet May as we could do with some rain here and there could be some decent convective episodes in any polar outbreaks. Hopefully lots of sunshine anyway and not too much depressing cloud/grey skies, with a warm up and the jet moving way north come June.
  10. A nice sunny morning despite the wind but cloudier now. Radar suggests a wet late afternoon and evening with a line of thunderstorms in France moving north, could they affect us overnight?
  11. Well surprise surprise, the predicted sunshine has failed to appear due to a complete cover of yucky grey cloud. Feeling chilly too. Zzzzzz
  12. After a grotty, damp and cold afternoon yesterday, it's a bit grey and dreary here again. Hopefully this cloud will break up soon as it's pointless if it's not raining.
  13. Technically the last frost dates here are around now but can sometimes get frosts in May. Hopefully not this year!
  14. Yes I tend to agree. We do have too many hours spoilt here with pointless drizzle and dreary light rain. Would much rather have proper soaking frontal rain or thunderstorms followed by sunshine. I'm a massively outdoors type of person with 2 allotments and it's actually not that often I have to hide indoors because of rain and general muddiness etc. The last time was June 2016, that was quite grim.
  15. Think London receives less rain than quite a few places in Europe. It does annoy me sometimes that London is always portrayed both here and abroad as having a constantly wet climate. Completely untrue. Dull, often dreary and boring....yes, but not soaking wet all the time as this dry period shows well.
  16. Yep, sleet on the hills but rain at low levels despite -60 uppers
  17. Rather nice day here, 16C with some sunny spells and light winds.
  18. After an ok-ish morning here the cloud thickened to give a rather poor afternoon, very gloomy but dry. There was a little bit of rain overnight though. Hopefully sunnier tomorrow.
  19. Bit of a dreary day here with a cool feel and not much sun until now, which is a bit late. As for the melodramatic rain posts, I'd love some heavy rain to soak my allotment. I use hoses but when it's dry like this every old bugger is hogging the taps all day and the pressure is crap, so it takes hours to water the whole 2 plots. Saying that, I would not like endless rains and Atlantic rubbish. Some heavy nighttime frontal rain, thundery showers and plenty of warm sunshine to go, please
  20. Lovely sunny day here with light winds. Bit of ice on the car this morning. This colder spell could bring some interesting convection our way with any luck, thundery showers but with lots of sunny spells too, sounds good
