    The models are computer generated by data input.The storms are produced by natural processes. If there is an issue it's the models failure to predict not the storms ignorance of them.

    I have noticed it subtly. It was not quite as bright last evening at 10.30pm as it was near the solstice.

    Sunshine and clearing skies after a short burst of rain. Sky looks thundery and it feels muggy.

    A good part of Greater Manchester has had very little in the way of thundery activity this year and we are into the second half of July.

    For myself, other factors need to be considered such as humidity and wind. For instance 2C and 30mph gusts can feel perishing compared to -6C and no wind. I noticed this during December 2010. Christmas Eve 2010 didn't feel cold despite it was. There was no wind and it was sunny. Also during August 2004, one Sunday during the day it was 29C but breezy and it felt comfortable but during the night the humidity had shot up, the wind drop and it felt stifling.

    Why does heat have to equate to best?I think 21C, crystal clear blue skies, glorious sunshine and gentle breeze is better than 28C, high humidity, a lot of haze, very watery sunshine or even cloud and high pollution/stagnate air.

    Change in cloud direction occurs about 00.50am which indicates when front passed through.

    One pretty decent August that is forgotten was the one in 1991. Not spectacular but pretty decent.In the two worst summers of recent times, 2007 and 2012, August was actually the best month overall.
