  1. Going to record an official March snow cover under Met Office rules. The last occasion in March was in 2006. Latest snow cover into a season since April 2008.
  2. Thanks. That area including Newton le Willows, Runcorn, St Helens have done well for this event.
  3. I always suspect exaggeration of reporting by some and there's the proof. Definitely not a foot of snow.
  4. Snow falling and blowing around. Notable now road is becoming slushy.
  5. Yes it is baffling. Hard to explain what is going on.
  6. Snow whipping around and settling quite easily now.
  7. Snow coming down whipping around in the perishing wind.
  8. Slight covering on grass. Some on roofs. Notable snow has collected in sheltered spots. Wow very gusty now whipping snowflakes around and around.
  9. Snow coming down more heavily now. Reasonable sized flakes.
  10. A reminder of what GFS was suggesting at the start of the month.
  11. Thanks. Fine snow falling here and a slight covering on soil and grass. There is no obvious clearance to the band of precipitation. There are still echoes to the south of the region.
  12. Any reports from the Isle of Man? I imagine Snaefell and the higher parts of Isle of Man are really copping it.
  13. Snow has got heavier, wind whipping it around, grass getting whiter, roofs are starting to collect.
  14. Steady snow, slushy deposit develop on cars and some soil and grass getting a whitish tinge
  15. Not expecting much. Has been snowing and the wind has been howling at times but I can't see much or any lying from this around here. The temperatures need to drop further and probably the wind as well as well as continuous heavy precipitation. Western parts especially the Liverpool area look favourable at the moment.

  17. Hmmm, I remember 1995 and that was on the back of one of the wettest winters on record.
  18. The thing is though Gavin is a hot summer going to be any better for farmers especially if it is a very dry one? Hot and dry can be just as bad to farmers as cold and wet. Just looks at summer 2003 for farmers in Europe.
  19. The Manchester long term forecast based on that ECM 12z run http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Manchester/long.html Amazing for the last week of March Detailed forecast http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Manchester/hour_by_hour.html
  20. Paul Blight has given his analysis on UkWeatherworld http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/97284-synoptic-discussion-heavy-snow-end-march-cold-spell/page__pid__850273#entry850273
