Freezing fog devloping here. Roads are literally like an ice rink.

Everyone thinks as the wind is coming from the south west here, it will be warm, but if your right JP we may be looking at one very big winter storm, will be interesting to see what unfolds here.

I can't work out where the snow falling now is coming from, just that it's got heavier, is the main band moving east?

Snow light most of the day in Reading, although added a few cms.
Anyone know why we have had melting snow with temp -1 and -1 dew point? Been melting on cars, wood and pavements.
Would like to know this to.

Really? we are a very small community WANTING severe weather events, regional as well. you/me and everyone else would be failing if we didn't report a man who has pleaded guilty to sex offences. IN OUR SMALL community
The thing is we all know about this from when you posted it yesterday, and it really isn't a very nice subject to talk about. I don't like what he's done either, but would rather not have it ruining a nice thread.

I hope it wasn't my post mentioning a Thames Streamer that started all this off
I posted up a couple of NMM charts which showed streamerish type precip albeit very light coming in across Northern parts of Kent and mentioned a Thames Streamer, I also posted the FAX chart showing the upper level trough sitting over the South-East along with some NMM upper airflow charts highlighting that things would become increasingly favourable throughout the day.
It seems some, if it was my post, took things a little too seriously

I doubt it, as I have not seen anyone upset that there hasn't been a streamer, mind you I've not read every post. I think he was really on about the amount of snow yesterday and the disappointment by the kent area. Before the later stuff showed up.
May have missed something somewhere though.

....Heavy snow tme for all of us SE'ers can feel it in my bones.
As long as the low doesn't center over here, or the medway region again, only fair they should get the snow this time.

Latest BBC weather showed the ppn in the Thames continuing past 3am, something they didn't have earlier... Is there still something to come from the Surrey swirl?
Maybe, it has been over Tilbery for a while now.

heavy till 3am ,then lighter flurries and rhroughout tomorow until we start wth the heavy snow sunday..[NO SCHOOL MONDAY POSS}Strangely been snowing here for a good 2 hrs now and have a good cover, but not seeing any real deph maybe a cm, wont complain to mch as i was beginning to think we would get nowt,
Funny you should say that, at my kids primary school they started a week late in Sep, saying that they are having all their inset days then so there is no interuption to the school year. On thursday letters were handed out for an inset day on monday. After I showed my husband the letter I said, it's a snow day not an inset day. He said it's not gonner snow lol.

The precip on the radar is almost rotating like a low with the center around kent and thus no precip there. All that lovely snow coming out of france looks like its going around kent up to essex/suffolk
Been watching that thought I was seeing things.

Hey your grit team did a good job on the roads today, but I'm very unhappy at how well you also cleared the pavements, I love walking on snow.
