  1. Managed about a centimetre of snow here, so happy with that. Drove my son into nursery into Bridgend about 4 miles away and there was virtually nothing
  2. Here's the UKV precipitation for the next 12 hours, I'm a little dubious about it as it's already underestimating the intensity of the showers in N Wales/ Merseyside, but it does push a more intense band of showers from North to South between 5am and 10am. That's going to be the one to watch I think.
  3. Tiny snow shower here, just provided a very small dusting on cars and hard surfaces. Hopefully more to come!
  4. Snow chances looking good pretty much anywhere between Sunday-Wednesday. Here's the ECM tonight. Looks like pockets of showers / shallow features could pop up at short notice
  5. ECM isn't a million miles away from getting the front in on Tuesday, if it could trend Northwards slightly, then we could see something
  6. It's a little on it's own at the moment, ICON isn't far away just keeps the front a little too far South in the Bristol Channel. Have to keep an eye out tomorrow to see if any other models join the party!
  7. Anyone fancy the 18Z GFS on Tuesday? We have had sleet and snow showers passing through here this evening which has led to an icy covering. More than I expected from today anyway!
  8. GFS 18Z has a trough which pushes South / South Eastwards from Anglesey on Thursday, giving a dusting of snow fairly widely, definitely one to keep an eye on as it's less than 48 hours away.
  9. Both the ECM and GFS this morning going for significant snow events next week in Wales as Low Pressure systems to our South / South West bump into the cold air in place over us. Still a long way off though!
  10. Morning everyone, looks like we could be in for a cold first half of December for once. Details on the depth of cold / any snowfall far from certain at the moment, but this morning's GFS run for later next week wouldn't go a miss for our part of the world! Here's hoping for a good Winter 22/23 of chasing, although maybe not too cold as those energy prices are rather high this year!
  11. Still too early to write off a White Christmas in my opinion, huge amounts of uncertainty still about and probably won't be resolved until Thursday. Even then there still could be surprises I reckon. Have a look at this from the UKV (the Met Office's High Res Model) for Christmas Day and look how the dewpoint temperatures tumble away into Christmas Night. There is also a band of precipitation moving in from the South West at the same time, and you could imagine if the timing is right with the cold air then somewhere you could see some decent snowfall. The GFS highlights this risk well on its latest run showing some significant snowfall on Boxing Day morning, then moving Northwards as the day progresses.
  12. The Met Office Long Range updates looking pretty decent for our region, it must be said. A couple of encouraging quotes from them: 22nd - 31st December 1st - 15th January This is possibly suggestive of sliding lows trying to make in roads, bringing the threat of snow as it bumps against colder air nearby.
  13. Did the exact same thing yesterday. Probably cursed it now haha Anyway definitely looking like our best chance of a white Christmas for over a decade. Exciting week of model watching ahead
  14. Cold week ahead by the looks of things. Could be some fun and games around this weekend if the ECM is anywhere near the mark. Lets up for a winter to remember this year!
  15. I recently got the Aercus WS2085, and I'm pretty impressed with it, so I suspect the WS3085 is even better (I think it also includes a UV and Light Meter). It didn't come with a mounting pole so you will need to purchase one, I bought a TV aerial mount (you can get them fairly cheap on amazon) and have attached it to my outbuilding. I then use a piece of software called WeatherCat which gives you graphical information using the data from the station, and also uploads my readings to wunderground. You can see the data from my station here https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IBRIDG117 . I would definitely recommend, very impressed!
  16. Graupel / Rain here now despite temps being -0.2 and dewpoints -2.7c - upper temperatures must be too warm now. Snow melting away rapidly
  17. Temp -1.0 and dewpoint -3.1C, dewpoints are definitely on the rise here. Probably have close to 1cm in places, still snowing
  18. Coming down a bit heavier now, bigger flakes. Car and driveway has a good dusting now
  19. Light flakes here, despite the radar showing we should be under a slightly heavier band. Hopefully it gets better later! Temp -1.2C Dewpoint -4.7C
  20. Slight improvement on the latest UKV compared to previously, but it's flip flopping up and down more than a yo-yo! Tomorrow will be a nowcast event
  21. Arperge shows this for tomorrow Harmonie has the front dying out before it reaches most of us and 12Z UKV also keeps us dry tomorrow. Who knows what will happen but I'm not confident we will see much tomorrow, still time for a backtrack though. It's currently ECM, ICON and Arperge vs all the other models
