  1. It has snowed pretty much continuously here since about 8.00 last night mostly moderately (some would call it heavy but i've been to the mountains so i know what heavy snow is) got a bit light and patchy in the early hours and then the front pepped up and got going again this morning. Unfortunately though because DPs haven't gone low enough yet theres not much to show for it other than bits and pieces on cars and roofs, i have no doubt if it had been in 24 hours time i would have to get the shovel out this morning. Heres hoping it keeps going when temps and Dps are lower. Happy Mothers Day all you mums
  2. Its been snow here for over an hour now, cars, roofs and grass has a slight dusting now.
  3. All snow here now falling moderately for the last half hour, starting to settle on cars now but nothing else yet.
  4. After a brief period where the front moved North of Ipswich, it has now started moving South and we have a light snow and rain mix here. Temp 2.0c DP 0.0c
  5. I think Floatylight was thinking like me, the top edge of that yellow blob is around abouts our area when she said marginal.
  6. I can't understand why you keep saying its all anaprop, there is no anaprop on the map, just because a blob comes over you and you don't see anything does not mean its anaprop, it means its not making it to the ground. Besides which every time the radar has shown something over me i've looked out and there has been flakes blowing around in the air. Anaprop is an artifact on the radar that shows something where there isn't anything, it usually sits still or bounces around all over the place, it certainly doesn't move with the wind. I'm not saying this to be nasty just trying to help you understand the difference between anaprop and showers where most evaporates and just a few flakes make it to the ground.
  7. It doesn't really come from anywhere, the showers just build on the back end of the shower train, it will carry on building until it finally runs out of energy and the trough fades.
  8. Shower train over me now and it is snowing lightly, a dusting starting to appear on all surfaces.
  9. The band seems to be pushing West again aswell, coming further inland down the Suffolk and Essex coast.
  10. You may see a few showers clipping you during the night but not much now there is more of a Northerly component to the flow, we needed more of an Easterly to push them towards us.
  11. Agreed, showers on the back edge of the shower train looking to beef up now, Suffolk and Essex coasts could see some of these through the night, but i think Kent will do best, East of a line from Dartford to Brighton.
  12. Still nothing more than flakes blowing around here, as it has been all morning, though the flakes are a bit bigger now and easier to see.
  13. Heres my take on the radar at the moment. Area 1- Classic Anaprop, not moving anywhere, just jumping around all over the place. Area 2- Thin shower bands moving in the Easterly flow, but not making it to the ground going on the lack of reports.
  14. I would say that the vertical lines on the radar are some kind of precip and probably evaporating before it reaches the ground as the Easterly air is very dry. The lines that go horizontally from Kent to Belgium are classic Anaprop from the radar, and if you follow the three lines to a point where they meet in Kent that is where that radar is situated. Anaprop doesn't move with the wind, it just stays where it is.
  15. Well its not guaranteed but i shall be looking for a nice shower train off the Northern tip of Holland to plant itself right over me, seen it many a time before but it has to be in the right position.
  16. Continuous snizzle has pepped up to a more moderate rice crispie size flakes, there are some surfaces with snow on but like Paul says more melting through the whole night than settling, the best i could measure was 2cm on the car roof.
  17. Still here, yes settling here too, paths just about starting to get a bit of texture on them now aswell
